Can we improve teaching and learning of percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy’s bronchoscopic guidance?

open access: yesSAGE Open Medicine, 2021
Percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy has become the technique of choice in multiple intensive care units. Among innovations to improve procedural safety and success, bronchoscopic guidance of percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy has been advocated ...

Predictors of difficulty in bedside percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy: pilot study

open access: yesRevista do Colégio Brasileiro de Cirurgiões, 2020
Introduction: percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy is currently one of the main procedures performed in an intensive care unit (ICU). However, there are no well-defined indicators of technical difficulty in performing the procedure.

Safety of bronchoscopic guided percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy in ICU patients in Tabriz City

open access: yesUniversa Medicina, 2017
BACKGROUND Tracheostomy is one of the most frequently performed procedures in intensive care units. The widespread attraction of percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy (PDT) is increasing in modern intensive care units (ICU). Bronchoscopic guidance seems

Airway management during unusual tracheal stenosis: A clinical feasibility trial

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 8, Issue 5, Page 1169-1177, October 2023., 2023
This study demonstrates the feasibility of using Tritube with FCV in patients with unusual subglottic posterior location tracheal stenosis, undergoing laryngotracheal surgery. Tritube provides a good surgical field and FCV provides highly adequate ventilation, especially in patients with compromised lung mechanics.

Tracheostomy Outcomes on Trauma Patients

open access: yesOTO Open, Volume 7, Issue 2, April–June 2023., 2023
Abstract Objective Tracheostomies are performed in trauma patients for multiple purposes. Approaches to the procedure are usually directed by individual expertise and local preferences. Though generally safe, a tracheostomy can cause serious complications. This study aims to identify complications associated with tracheostomies performed at the level I
