Self-supervised Dense 3D Reconstruction from Monocular Endoscopic Video [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We present a self-supervised learning-based pipeline for dense 3D reconstruction from full-length monocular endoscopic videos without a priori modeling of anatomy or shading. Our method only relies on unlabeled monocular endoscopic videos and conventional multi-view stereo algorithms, and requires neither manual interaction nor patient CT in both ...

Indications for percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy and survival in old adults [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background : Many diseases striking old adults result in eating difficulties. Indications for selecting individuals for percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) are unclear and everybody may not benefit from the procedure.

Gastrointestinal endoscopy training in the United States: Program structure and competence assessment

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 5, Issue 1, April 2025.
Abstract The general principles of gastrointestinal endoscopy training in the United States were formulated and summarized more than a decade ago and the principles have been consistent until now. To summarize, trainees should be prepared to (i) appropriately recommend endoscopic procedures as indicated by the findings of the consultative evaluation ...

A case of recurrent gastric volvulus successfully treated with nasogastric tube‐assisted endoscopic reduction and percutaneous endoscopy‐assisted gastropexy

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 5, Issue 1, April 2025.
Abstract We report the case of a 97‐year‐old male with recurrent gastric volvulus who was successfully treated with nasogastric tube‐assisted endoscopic reduction followed by percutaneous endoscopy‐assisted gastropexy with gastric wall fixation. The nasogastric tube facilitates endoscopic reduction by enhancing the procedure's efficiency.

Endoscopic character identities for metaplectic groups [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
In this paper, we prove the conjectural endoscopic character identities for tempered representations of metaplectic group $Mp_{2n}$ based on the formalism of endoscopy theory by J. Adams, D. Renard and W.W. Li.

Thoracic Electric Impedance Tomography Detects Lung Volume Changes in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, Volume 71, Issue 4, Page 552-557, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction/Aims Spirometry is the conventional means to measure lung function in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), but is dependent on patient effort and bulbar strength. We aimed to use electric impedance tomography (EIT), an emerging non‐invasive imaging modality, to measure dynamic lung volume changes.

Automatic Tip Detection of Surgical Instruments in Biportal Endoscopic Spine Surgery [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Some endoscopic surgeries require a surgeon to hold the endoscope with one hand and the surgical instruments with the other hand to perform the actual surgery with correct vision. Recent technical advances in deep learning as well as in robotics can introduce robotics to these endoscopic surgeries.

YouTube as a possible learning platform for patients and their family caregivers for gastrostomy tube feeding: A cross‐sectional study

open access: yesNutrition in Clinical Practice, Volume 40, Issue 2, Page 389-396, April 2025.
Abstract Background Many patients and family caregivers have informational needs, especially regarding gastrostomy care and home gastrostomy tube feeding. YouTube is a potential accessible option for educational resources concerning these topics. Methods This study aimed to explore the educational quality and content of informational YouTube videos. We
