Percutaneous needle nephrostomy [PDF]
Percutaneous nephrostomy is a simple technique for temporary drainage of an obstructed kidney. Under local anaesthesia a ureteric catheter is passed through a Vim-Silverman needle into the renal pelvis and is connected to a drainage bag.
