Management of pediatric distal humerus metaphyseal–diaphyseal junction fracture: A systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesJournal of Children's Orthopaedics
Purpose: Fractures occurring at the metaphyseal–diaphyseal junction of the distal humerus in children are not commonly documented in the literature. Until this moment, there is no gold standard technique regarding its management and most surgeons treat ...

From nature to nanoscale: advances, challenges, and preclinical translation of nanofiber drug delivery systems containing plant‐derived active ingredients

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract Since the early 1960s, nanotechnology has been a critical area of science, allowing for the development of sophisticated nanomaterials. Nanofibers, one of the most widely used nanotechnological drug delivery systems, have emerged as a highly versatile platform within modern pharmaceutical sciences.

Optical Stimulation and Monitoring of the Peripheral Nervous System: Perspectives and Challenges Toward Clinical Translation

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Optical neuromodulation with IR light allows stimulation of the PNS without the need for physical contact with the target nerve or without requiring any genetic modification. The clinical translation of this technique will pave the way to the development of neural interfaces for restoring sensory feedback in individuals with limb amputation.

Open versus minimally invasive surgical techniques for displaced abomasum in dairy cattle: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives To compare open and minimally invasive surgical approaches for the treatment of abomasal displacement (AD) in dairy cows regarding effectiveness (mortality, recurrence, milk yield, and complications) and efficiency (operative time).

A two-dimensional mathematical model of percutaneous drug absorption [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Background When a drug is applied on the skin surface, the concentration of the drug accumulated in the skin and the amount of the drug eliminated into the blood vessel depend on the value of a parameter, r.

A Geometrically Transient Platform for Bioelectronic Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 55, 1 October 2026.
Minimally invasive bioelectronic implants often compromise performance for smaller sizes. To resolve this optimization dilemma, a wireless bioelectronic implant with a transient geometry is introduced (MiFi). The origami‐inspired device miniaturizes up to sixfold for syringe insertion and autonomously unfolds post‐implantation.

Percutaneous Headless Cannulated Screw versus Pinning in Fixation of Scaphoid Waist Fracture: Comparative Study [PDF]

open access: yesAl-Azhar International Medical Journal
Background: Scaphoid waist fractures are common among young adults, often necessitating surgical fixation for optimal recovery. Aim: This study compares percutaneous headless cannulated screw fixation (Herbert screw) versus Kirschner wire (K-wire ...

The Role of Ultra‐Low‐Dose Naloxone as an Additive in Anesthesia and Nerve Block: A Systematic Review

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims In anesthesia and analgesia, opioids alone or in combination with local anesthetics (bupivacaine, lidocaine, and ropivacaine) have been investigated to prolong peripheral nerve blocks. Ultra‐low‐dose naloxone administration in local anesthetic solutions could lengthen sensory and motor blocks through enhanced opioid effects

β‐Catenin‐Deficient Intervertebral Disc Cells Reduce Chemotactic Transcription and Myeloid Cell Recruitment to Injured Discs of Mice

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 10, October 2026.
(Left) In young discs, Wnt signaling‐replete nucleus pulposus cells secrete ECM components and, upon disc injury, cytokines to recruit myeloid cells. (Right) Whereas, β‐catenin‐deficient disc cells, modeling age‐related absence of Wnt signaling, exhibit reduced anabolic activity and, upon disc injury, secrete fewer pro‐inflammatory cytokines and ...
