Phase evolution of Peregrine-like breathers in optics and hydrodynamics [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2019
We present a detailed study of the phase properties of rational breather waves observed in the hydrodynamic and optical domains, namely the Peregrine soliton and related second-order solution. At the point of maximum compression, our experimental results recorded in a wave tank or using an optical fiber platform reveal a characteristic phase shift that

Two Parameters Deformations of Ninth Peregrine Breather Solution of the NLS Equation and Multi-Rogue Waves [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, 2013
This paper is a continuation of a recent paper on the solutions of the focusing NLS equation. The representation in terms of a quotient of two determinants gives a very efficient method of determination of famous Peregrine breathers and their ...

Peregrine Soliton and Akhmediev Breathers in a Chameleon Electrical Transmission Line

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics and Physics, 2020
We analyze the particular behavior exhibited by a chaotic waves field containing Peregrine soliton and Akhmediev breathers. This behavior can be assimilated to a tree with “roots of propagation” which propagate randomly. Besides, this strange phenomenon can be called “tree structures”. So, we present the collapse of dark and bright solitons in order to

Deformations of higher order Peregrine breathers and monstrous polynomials.

open access: yes, 2013
In the following, we present two new results about the focusing one dimensional NLS equation : 1. We construct solutions of NLS equation in terms of wronskians. Then performing a special passage to the limit when a parameter tends to 0, we obtain quasi-rational solutions of NLS equation. 2. We construct quasi-rational solutions in terms of determinants

Higher order Peregrine breathers, their deformations and multi-rogue waves

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2014
We study the solutions of the one dimensional focusing NLS equation. Here we construct new deformations of the Peregrine breather of order 7 with 12 real parameters. We obtain new families of quasi-rational solutions of the NLS equation. With this method, we construct new patterns of different types of rogue waves.

Transformation of the Peregrine Breather Into Gray Solitons on a Vertically Sheared Current [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2021
In this Brief Research Report, we show, within the framework of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation in deep water and in the presence of vorticity (vor-NLS), that the Peregrine breather traveling at the free surface of a shear current of slowly varying vorticity may transform into gray solitons.

Amplification of Wave Groups in the Forced Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation

open access: yesFluids, 2022
In many physical contexts, notably including deep-water waves, modulation instability in one space dimension is often studied by using the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. The principal solutions of interest are solitons and breathers which are adopted as

A Peregrine Soliton-Like Structure That Has Nothing to Deal With a Peregrine Breather [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2021
We report on experimental results where a temporal intensity profile presenting some of the main signatures of the Peregrine soliton (PS) is observed. However, the emergence of a highly peaked structure over a continuous background in a normally dispersive fiber cannot be linked to any PS dynamics and is mainly ascribed to the impact of Brillouin ...

Phase Evolution of the Time- and Space-Like Peregrine Breather in a Laboratory [PDF]

open access: yesFluids, 2021
Coherent wave groups are not only characterized by the intrinsic shape of the wave packet, but also by the underlying phase evolution during the propagation. Exact deterministic formulations of hydrodynamic or electromagnetic coherent wave groups can be obtained by solving the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE).
