Quantum Peregrine Soliton Generation

OSA Advanced Photonics Congress (AP) 2020 (IPR, NP, NOMA, Networks, PVLED, PSC, SPPCom, SOF), 2020
Nonlinear quantum optics describes rogue wave emergence in faint light propagation through Kerr media. We apply phase-space methods to the quantum nonlinear Schrödinger equation to show that the generation efficiency increases at low photon numbers.

The Interaction of Peregrine Solitons

Chinese Physics Letters, 2014
We theoretically investigate the interaction of two in-phase and out-of-phase Peregrine solitons in a Kerr nonlinear medium, addressing both the cases of first- and second-order solitons. Upon adjusting the interval between the solitons, their interactions exhibit different properties.

Deformation of a Peregrine soliton by fluctuating backgrounds

Physical Review E, 2013
A generalized Peregrine soliton moving on a fluctuating background is constructed. The agreement with the experimental results is improved compared to the standard Peregrine soliton. It has a deformed shape asymmetric with respect to time, and the peak values are not always 3.

Optical peregrine soliton generation in standard telecommunication fibers

2011 13th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks, 2011
By combining real time characterization with cut-back measurements, we provide the first direct observation of Peregrine-like soliton longitudinal evolution dynamics and report a new effect associated with the breakup of a Peregrine soliton into two subpulses, each providing similar characteristics of localization upon finite background.

Universal peregrine soliton structure in optical fibre soliton compression

2017 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC), 2017
Following its first observation in optics in 2010, the Peregrine soliton (PS) is now recognized as one of the seminal solutions of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NLSE) [1]. Although it is widely believed that the PS is uniquely associated with the process of plane wave modulation instability (MI), recent theory has shown that it actually appears ...

Peregrine combs and rogue waves on a bright soliton background

Optik, 2021
Abstract The dynamics of the modulation rogue waves in an inhomogeneous nonlinear optical fiber with the periodic modulation are studied. We find that for different modulation amplitudes and modulation frequencies, the modulation rogue wave solution can be Peregrine comb, rogue wave, or the transition state in between, respectively.

Observation of Peregrine Solitons in a Multicomponent Plasma with Negative Ions

Physical Review Letters, 2011
The experimental observation of Peregrine solitons in a multicomponent plasma with the critical concentration of negative ions is reported. A slowly amplitude modulated perturbation undergoes self-modulation and gives rise to a high amplitude localized pulse.

Quadratic Peregrine solitons resonantly radiating without higher-order dispersion

Optics Letters, 2022
We show that two-color Peregrine solitary waves in quadratic nonlinear media can resonantly radiate dispersive waves even in the absence of higher-order dispersion, owing to a phase-matching mechanism that involves the weaker second-harmonic component. We give very simple criteria for calculating the radiated frequencies in terms of

Optical solitons and Peregrine solitons for nonlinear Schrödinger equation by variational iteration method

Optik, 2019
Abstract The current study is dedicated for operating the variational iteration method (VIM) to the self-focusing nonlinear Schrodinger (NLS) equation. Consequently, optical solitons and singular soliton solutions are formally derived. The VIM, representing the resultant solution in a series structure, does not require linearization of the equation ...
