Researchers develop advanced tools to study grapevine traits like berry quality and stress resilience. A 200K SNP array and high‐throughput phenotyping enable the identification of loci linked to berry shape, sugar content, acidity, and cold tolerance. Functional validation of genes such as NAC08 reveals roles in cold tolerance.

Agricultural intensification has caused losses of global biodiversity and associated ecological services. Agroecological landscape assessments are therefore often based on the area of remaining semi-natural habitats due to their ability to promote ...

The effect of AMF suppression on plant species composition in a nutrient-poor dry grassland. [PDF]
Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are expected to be one of the key drivers determining the diversity of natural plant communities, especially in nutrient-poor and dry habitats.

Time evolution and observables in constrained systems [PDF]
The discussion is limited to first-class parametrized systems, where the definition of time evolution and observables is not trivial, and to finite dimensional systems in order that technicalities do not obscure the conceptual framework. The existence of reasonable true, or physical, degrees of freedom is rigorously defined and called {\em local ...

Drought tolerance of perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) and the role of Epichloë endophyte : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Science at Massey University, Manawatu, New Zealand [PDF]
Perennial ryegrass is the most important grass species in New Zealand. Due to climate change, drought will become more severe and frequent in New Zealand, which makes it increasingly important to improve drought tolerance of perennial ryegrass. There are

The waterlogging tolerance of allotetraploid Actinidia valvata is inherited from one of its diploid progenitors, which leads to subgenome expression dominance, mediated by complex mechanisms including altered chromatin accessibility and DNA methylation.

Analyzing Medicago spp. seed morphology using GWAS and machine learning
Alfalfa is widely recognized as an important forage crop. To understand the morphological characteristics and genetic basis of seed morphology in alfalfa, we screened 318 Medicago spp., including 244 Medicago sativa subsp.

Ideotype Selection of Perennial Flax (Linum spp.) for Herbaceous Plant Habit Traits
(1) Background: Annual flax (Linum usitatissimum) and many wild relatives possess showy blue flowers and finely textured foliage. To promote the use of blue-flowered flax as ornamentals, an herbaceous perennial flax breeding program was initiated to ...

Competition, trait-mediated facilitation, and the structure of plant-pollinator communities [PDF]
In plant-pollinator communities many pollinators are potential generalists and their preferences for certain plants can change quickly in response to changes in plant and pollinator densities. These changes in preferences affect coexistence within pollinator guilds as well as within plant guilds.

Optimal allocation strategies of perennial plants
In this paper we propose a novel optimal allocation model for perennial plants. We consider not only favorable for photosynthesis periods, but analyze the whole life of a perennial plant. This provides more information about strategies of a plant during transitions between favorable and unfavorable seasons.
