Perennial rice root system microbial interaction

Perennial rice is a new type of rice cultivated by the Hu Fengyi team at Yunnan University through asexual reproduction of underground stems in wild rice (Oryza longistaminata) crossed with cultivated rice (RD23) from Thailand. Molecular marker-assisted selection (MAS) technology was used to transfer the genetic characteristics of asexual reproduction ...

Bud shapes dictate tiller–rhizome transition in African perennial rice (Oryza longistaminata)

Theoretical and Applied Genetics
Rhizome formation of Oryza longistaminata was dependent on the bud shape. The loci qBS3.1, qBS3.2 and qBS3.3 for controlling rhizome formation were functional redundant under Oryza longistaminata background. The rhizome, a root-like underground stem, is the key organ for grasses to achieve perennial growth.

Construction and analysis of molecular genetic map of perennial Chinese rice.

Yi chuan = Hereditas
To develop perennial rice varieties and realize one planting (year) more harvest planting pattern of increasing yield and farmer's income is one of the most cost-effective strategy involved in safeguarding China's grain supply. In this study, construction and analysis of molecular maps of perennial rice was performed to elucidate the genetic laws of ...
