Atmospheric Perfluorocarbons

Environmental Science & Technology, 2003
Collectively, man-made emissions of a few greenhouse gases may cause about the same amount of global warming as increasing carbon dioxide. Among the most potent of these non-CO2 greenhouse gases are the perfluorocarbons that have extraordinarily long atmospheric lifetimes of 10,000 to more than 50,000 yr.

Perfluorocarbon blood substitutes

Critical Reviews in Oncology/Hematology, 1987
The salient physicochemical properties of the fluorocarbons are briefly reviewed, including their solubility for the physiologically important gases and their properties relevant to formulation (nonmiscibility with water). The preparations used to date are described, including their properties and compositions, with some comment about the available ...

Perfluorocarbons and Semifluorinated Alkanes

Seminars in Ophthalmology, 2000
The introduction of perfluorocarbons (PFCs) and, more recently, semifluorinated alkanes (SFAs) has greatly facilitated vitreoretinal surgery. A distinction is made between the use of these substances as intraoperative tools and internal tamponade agents.
