Anatomical and visual outcomes of phacoemulsification and 23-gauge pars plana vitrectomy assisted with perfluorocarbon and 27-gauge twin-chandelier endoillumination for primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ophthalmology and Research, 2018
Context: Anatomical and visual outcomes of phacoemulsification and 23-gauge (23G) pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) assisted with perfluorocarbon liquid (PFCL) and 27-gauge twin-chandelier endoillumination for primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD ...

Experimental model of the interfacial instability in aluminium reduction cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A solution has been found to the long-standing problem of experimental modelling of the interfacial instability in aluminium reduction cells. The idea is to replace the electrolyte overlaying molten aluminium with a mesh of thin rods supplying current ...

Pulmonary stretch receptor activity during partial liquid ventilation in cats with healthy lungs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Aim: To study whether pulmonary stretch receptor (PSR) activity in mechanically ventilated young cats with healthy lungs during partial liquid ventilation (PLV) is different from that during gas ventilation (GV).

Development of a hydrogen peroxide-responsive and oxygen-carrying nanoemulsion for photodynamic therapy against hypoxic tumors using phase inversion composition method

open access: yesJournal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences, 2021
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has become an attractive tumor treatment modality because of its noninvasive feature and low side effects. However, extreme hypoxia inside solid tumors severely impedes PDT therapeutic outcome.

Controlled Release of Hydrogen‐Carrying Perfluorocarbons for Ischemia Myocardium‐Targeting 19F MRI‐Guided Reperfusion Injury Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2023
Hydrogen gas is recently proven to have anti‐oxidative and anti‐inflammation effects on ischemia‐reperfusion injury. However, the efficacy of hydrogen therapy is limited by the efficiency of hydrogen storage, targeted delivery, and controlled release. In

Polyferrocene‐Based Cubosomes: Conversion to Magnetic Mesoporous Microparticles, Supramolecular Modification, and Oxidation Response

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polyferrocene block copolymers are synthesized and assembled into micron‐sized polymer cubosomes with double diamond lattice and pore diameter of ≈30 nm. The ferrocene functionality is retained within the polymer cubosome wall as demonstrated on supramolecular modification, and oxidative disassembly.

The impact of vaporized nanoemulsions on ultrasound-mediated ablation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
BACKGROUND: The clinical feasibility of using high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for ablation of solid tumors is limited by the high acoustic pressures and long treatment times required.

Spatial Patterning of Modular Gelatin‐Peroxide Microspheres in Melt‐Electrowritten Scaffolds Provides Controlled Oxygen Generation and Mitigates Hypoxia and Cytotoxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A bioassembly approach is described using photo‐crosslinked gelatin‐based microgels containing calcium peroxide (CaO2) to generate oxygen (O2) and enhance cell survival in hypoxic conditions (1% O2). Bioassembly enables spatial patterning of individual CaO2‐laden and mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)‐laden microgels and allows for decoupling and mitigating ...
