Perfluoropolyether carboxylic acids (novel alternatives to PFOA) impair zebrafish posterior swim bladder development via thyroid hormone disruption

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2020
Perfluoropolyether carboxylic acids (PFECAs, CF3(OCF2)nCOO−, n = 2–5) are novel alternatives to perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and are widely used in industrial production.

Reductive degradation of perfluorooctanoic acid in complex water matrices by using the UV/sulfite process.

open access: yesWater Research, 2021
Hydrated electrons (e-aq,E= -2.9 V) generated by advanced reduction processes (ARPs) have been proved to be a promising approach to eliminate various per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in water.

A Molecular Cu Electrocatalyst Escalates Ambient Perfluorooctanoic Acid Degradation

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2023
Groundwater reservoirs contaminated with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) need purifying remedies. Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) is the most abundant PFAS in drinking water. Although different degradation strategies for PFOA have been explored, none of them disintegrates the PFOA backbone rapidly under mild conditions.

Recent Trends in Metabolomics by NMR Spectroscopy

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
AI tools were applied to analyze more than 5 000 publications indexed in Scopus (2018–2025), identifying key trends and research directions in NMR‐based metabolomics. The artificial intelligence‐assisted workflow classified papers into six main fields of application, human health, food and nutrition, veterinary science, plants, environment, and ...

Exceptionally High Perfluorooctanoic Acid Uptake in Water by a Zirconium-Based Metal–Organic Framework through Synergistic Chemical and Physical Adsorption

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society
Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) is an environmental contaminant ubiquitous in water resources, which as a xenobiotic and carcinogenic agent, severely endangers human health. The development of techniques for its efficient removal is therefore highly sought

Temperature effect on photolysis decomposing of perfluorooctanoic acid [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Sciences, 2016
Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) is recalcitrant to degrade and mineralize. Here, the effect of temperature on the photolytic decomposition of PFOA was investigated. The decomposition of PFOA was enhanced from 34% to 99% in 60 min of exposure when the temperature was increased from 25 to 85°C under UV light (201-600 nm).

Advanced Oxidation Processes Used in The Treatment of Perfluoroalkylated Substances in Water

open access: yesRevista UIS Ingenierías, 2023
Perfluoroalkylated and polyfluoroalkylated substances (PFAS) are a large family of synthetic chemicals widely used to manufacture various commercial products. However, they are hazardous to health and the environment.

Metabolic Handling of Perfluorooctanoic Acid in Rats

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1980
SummaryThe metabolic fate of perfluorooctanoic acid administered by stomach intubation to female rats was investigated. The nonionic fluorine level in the serum was increased 200-fold after administration of the dose but returned to baseline levels by 52.5 hr.

Differential associations between synthetic endocrine disruptors and renal function impairment across varying degrees in middle-aged and older adult populations

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
BackgroundExisting research has revealed that various factors, including environmental pollutants, can affect renal function. This study aims to explore the association between various synthetic Endocrine Disruptors(EDs), which are widely present in the ...
