Pedicled Perforator Flaps in the Trunk

Clinics in Plastic Surgery, 2010
Trunk defects can be approached through a multitude of regional flaps that can be harvested from the shoulder girdle, the epigastric axis, the paraspinal region, or the pelvic girdle. The aim of the reconstruction is to provide adequate and tension-free restoration of tissue integrity with minimal functional morbidity, water- and airtight closure of ...

Hybrid perforator flaps: Introducing a new concept in perforator flap surgery

Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, 2020
Although perforator propeller flaps provide a safe and reliable reconstructive option, they are often limited in size, reach and degrees of freedom due to venous insufficiency. As a result, partial flap necrosis, particularly at the tip of the flap, may occur in some cases causing the loss of substance.

The sternocleidomastoid perforator flap

British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2011
The conventional pedicled sternocleidomastoid (SCM) flap has a poor arc of rotation, limited volume and precarious vascularity. This report describes a new technique for raising a SCM flap based on the perforating vessels of the superior thyroid vascular pedicle. The upper and lower attachments of the sternocleidomastoid muscle are divided.

The Anatomic Basis of Perforator Flaps

Clinics in Plastic Surgery, 2010
The recent enthusiasm for perforator flaps underlines the need for a detailed understanding of the cutaneous vasculature. The principle determinant of success in perforator flap surgery is the inclusion of an adequately sized cutaneous perforator in the flap.

Breast Reconstruction with Perforator Flaps

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 2007
Perforator flaps represent the latest in the evolution of soft-tissue flaps. They allow the transfer of the patient's own skin and fat in a reliable manner, with minimal donor-site morbidity. The powerful perforator flap concept allows transfer of tissue from numerous, well-described donor sites to almost any distant site with suitable recipient ...

Perforator Topography of the Thoracodorsal Artery Perforator Flap

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 2008
The anatomical topography of the perforators that pierce the latissimus dorsi muscle fascia determines the location and direction of the skin paddle and thus the ultimate design of the thoracodorsal artery perforator flap. The full scope of the thoracodorsal artery perforator topography has not been provided in detail, and the usefulness of perforators

Zhonghua zheng xing wai ke za zhi = Zhonghua zhengxing waike zazhi = Chinese journal of plastic surgery, 2012

Perforator Flaps in Breast Reconstruction

Clinics in Plastic Surgery, 2010
Patients are well informed and seek autogenous breast reconstruction. The motivating factors include a preference for autologous tissue reconstruction and the complementary improvement in body contour, safety concerns surrounding implants, and implant-related complications in the setting of previous radiation therapy.

Gluteal Artery Perforator Flaps

Clinics in Plastic Surgery, 2007
Perforator flaps have allowed the transfer of a patient's own skin and fat in a reliable manner with minimal donor site morbidity for more than a decade. They represent the latest in the evolution of soft tissue flaps and provide the reconstructive microsurgeon with more freedom to select a donor site that matches the skin color, thickness, texture ...

The Free True Perforator Flap

Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery, 2007
Many reports about free perforator flaps have been published. Among them, the free true perforator flap (classified by Koshima) is the least invasive flap because the main vessels in both donor and recipient sites are preserved. Two cases of reconstruction with free true perforator flaps in the hand and forearm region are reported.
