Crew factors in flight operations. Part 3: The operational significance of exposure to short-haul air transport operations [PDF]

open access: yes
Excessive flightcrew fatigue has potentially serious safety consequences. Laboratory studies have implicated fatigue as a causal factor associated with varying levels of performance deterioration depending on the amount of fatigue and the type of measure

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

An Empirical Evaluation of Lightweight Random Walk Based Routing Protocol in Duty Cycle Aware Wireless Sensor Networks

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
Energy efficiency is an important design paradigm in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) and its consumption in dynamic environment is even more critical. Duty cycling of sensor nodes is used to address the energy consumption problem.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Identification of key nodes and research the anti-destruction performance of normal duty command model [PDF]

open access: yesZhihui kongzhi yu fangzhen
The research emphasized the invulnerability of tree command network and Cascade Command network based on the normal duty command model. Random attack and deliberate attack are employed on three kinds of duty command models.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

An Evaluation of Heat Exchangers Using System Information and PEC [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
This report describes analyses aimed at integrating component optimization and system design by developing heat-exchanger performance evaluation criteria (PEC) that account for the system-level performance impacts of heat exchanger design. It builds on

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Geographic Routing in Duty-Cycled Industrial Wireless Sensor Networks With Radio Irregularity

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2016
Industrial wireless sensor networks (IWSNs) are required to provide highly reliable and real-time transmission. Moreover, for connected K-neighborhood (CKN) sleep scheduling-based duty-cycled IWSNs in which the network lifetime of IWSNs can be prolonged,
