Using Oculomotor Features to Predict Changes in Optic Nerve Sheath Diameter and ImPACT Scores From Contact-Sport Athletes

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2021
There is mounting evidence linking the cumulative effects of repetitive head impacts to neuro-degenerative conditions. Robust clinical assessment tools to identify mild traumatic brain injuries are needed to assist with timely diagnosis for return-to ...

Performance evaluation of IVC systems [PDF]

open access: yesLaboratory Animals, 2005
An expert Working Group was set up in December 2000 to develop recommendations for users and industry on the evaluation of proper function and operation of individually ventilated cage (IVC) systems. The full report of their recommendations is in two parts—'Part 1: Test Instructions' and 'Part 2: Evaluation Criteria'—both of which have been published ...

Deep Neural Network Model of Hearing-Impaired Speech-in-Noise Perception

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2020
Many individuals struggle to understand speech in listening scenarios that include reverberation and background noise. An individual's ability to understand speech arises from a combination of peripheral auditory function, central auditory function, and ...

State and parameter estimation of two land surface models using the ensemble Kalman filter and the particle filter [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2017
Land surface models (LSMs) use a large cohort of parameters and state variables to simulate the water and energy balance at the soil–atmosphere interface. Many of these model parameters cannot be measured directly in the field, and require calibration

HOW DIFFERENT ARE PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS? EMPIRICAL TYPOLOGY OF PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

open access: yesJournal of Business Economics and Management, 2023
The purpose of the research is to extract an empirical typology presenting the diverse types of PMSs. For creating empirical typology, a Two-Step cluster analysis was applied. The types of PMSs are characterized by the variables extracted from the chain model found in the literature.

Performance evaluation of fingerprint verification systems [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2006
This paper is concerned with the performance evaluation of fingerprint verification systems. After an initial classification of biometric testing initiatives, we explore both the theoretical and practical issues related to performance evaluation by presenting the outcome of the recent Fingerprint Verification Competition (FVC2004).

Morphological and Rheological Properties of PLA, PBAT, and PLA/PBAT Blend Nanocomposites Containing CNCs

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
Morphological and rheological properties of poly(lactic acid), PLA (semicrystalline and amorphous), and poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate), PBAT, and their blends (75 wt%/25 wt%; PLA/PBAT) were investigated in the presence of cellulose nanocrystals (

System-level noise performance of coherent imaging systems

open access: yesOptics Express, 2023
We provide an in-depth analysis of noise considerations in coherent imaging, accounting for speckle and scintillation in addition to “conventional” image noise. Specifically, we formulate closed-form expressions for total effective noise in the presence of speckle only, scintillation only, and speckle combined with scintillation.
