Distribution of Perfusion

Comprehensive Physiology, 2011
Abstract Local driving pressures and resistances within the pulmonary vascular tree determine the distribution of perfusion in the lung. Unlike other organs, these local determinants are significantly influenced by regional hydrostatic and alveolar pressures.

PERFUSION OF THE THYROID

Acta Endocrinologica, 1972
ABSTRACT Thyroid glands maintained by isolated perfusion have been used for studies in metabolism, micro-circulation and tumour angiogenesis. Recent work is described. Thyroid metabolism can be studied for brief periods of 4–5 hours, after which there is progressive parenchymal damage.

Perfusion imaging

British Medical Bulletin, 1989
The term perfusion has varied connotations in different situations. The word perfusion comes from the Latin to pour or diffuse through or over. Myocardial perfusion depends on (a) coronary artery or vessel flow, and (b) myocardial or muscle flow.

Cerebral Perfusion

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2007
Aortic arch surgery necessitates interrupted brain perfusion and carries a risk of brain injury. Various brain protective techniques have been advocated to reduce risk including hypothermic arrest and retrograde or selective antegrade perfusion. Knowledge of the pathophysiologic consequences of deep hypothermia, may aid the surgeon in deciding when to ...

Perfusion imaging

Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, 1992
AbstractMeasurement of tissue perfusion is important for the functional assessment of organs in vivo. Here we report the use of 1H NMR imaging to generate perfusion maps in the rat brain at 4.7 T. Blood water flowing to the brain is saturated in the neck region with a sliceselective saturation imaging sequence, creating an endogenous tracer in the form

Perfusion Imaging

Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 2013
MRI has become a reliable tool in medical imaging for assessing morphological and functional details of the human body in a noninvasive manner. Perfusion is an important parameter to assess status and functionality of tissue and organs. This review summarizes the different approaches to measure perfusion based on MRI.

Perfusate composition and stability of polyribosomes in perfused liver

Life Sciences, 1972
Abstract The polyribosomes in the resting liver from young adult rats are preserved during a one-hour perfusion in an isolated system with Krebs-Ringer bicarbonate buffer containing fresh rat blood (1:1, v/v) and glucose, only when both a high concentration of amino acids (e.g.

Effects of perfusate viscosity on the perfused rat kidney

Microvascular Research, 1976
Elevation of blood hematocrit has been shown to result in little effect upon renal blood flow despite the resulting elevation in whole blood viscosity (L. Share, Amer. J. Physiol. 171, 159–163, 1952). Perfused rat kidneys were used to study the effects of doubling the perfusate viscosity from 0.858 to 1.768 cP.

Perfusion chromatography

Nature, 1991
Perfusion chromatography is a technique based on fluid dynamics for reducing stagnant mobile phase mass transfer in liquid chromatography. This is achieved by using supports with large pores that allow mobile phase to flow through particles.

THE ISOLATED BLOOD AND PERFUSION FLUID PERFUSED HEART

Pharmacological Research, 2000
The isolated heart is deservedly one of the most popular experimental models in cardiovascular research, both in terms of cost and the quality and quantity of data it provides. However, it is a deceptively simple model, capable of throwing many problems in the path of the inexperienced or unwary perfuser.
