Can the ischemic penumbra be identified on noncontrast CT of acute stroke? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007

Background and Purpose: Early ischemic changes on noncontrast CT in acute stroke include both hypoattenuation and brain swelling, which may have different pathophysiological significance.

Methods:

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Real-time intestinal perfusion assessment for anastomotic site selection using laser speckle contrast imaging: Verification in a porcine model

open access: yesSurgery Open Science
Introduction: Adequate blood perfusion is widely recognized as a crucial factor for successful healing of an anastomosis and avoid anastomotic leakage.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Total-liver-volume perfusion CT using 3-D image fusion to improve detection and characterization of liver metastases

open access: yes, 2008
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of a totalliver- volume perfusion CT (CTP) technique for the detection and characterization of livermetastases.

Renal perfusion in scleroderma patients assessed by microbubble-based contrast-enhanced ultrasound [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
OBJECTIVES: Renal damage is common in scleroderma. It can occur acutely or chronically. Renal reserve might already be impaired before it can be detected by laboratory findings.

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Perfusion imaging and coronary anatomy [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Heart Journal - Cardiovascular Imaging, 2015
Myocardial perfusion imaging is a functional test that does not provide information about coronary artery anatomy. However, the most common indication for perfusion imaging is to detect coronary artery disease (CAD) and more specifically identify significant stenosis in the large epicardial arteries. Therefore, when reporting the perfusion imaging, the

Multi-centre reproducibility of diffusion MRI parameters for clinical sequences in the brain. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The purpose of this work was to assess the reproducibility of diffusion imaging, and in particular the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), intra-voxel incoherent motion (IVIM) parameters and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) parameters, across multiple ...

A new flow chip in combination with multiphoton microscopy as a protocol for longitudinal 3D imaging of tissue calcification under shear stress

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Miniaturized flow chip platform enabling continuous perfusion and longitudinal multiphoton 3D imaging of vascular smooth muscle cell constructs under physiological flow. Brightfield imaging guides region selection, while CellTracker Green and mRuby‐labeled fetuin‐A visualize cells and mineral deposition, respectively. Magnesium supplementation markedly
