Xenon Ventilation-Perfusion Lung Scans
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1979ABSTRACT To the Editor.— In their article "Xenon Ventilation-Perfusion Lung Scans: The Early Diagnosis of Inhalation Injury," Schall et al (240:2441, 1978) suggest that the "widespread application of this test will reduce the mortality associated with severe thermal burns." Their study has shown that ventilation-perfusion lung scan is a sensitive test ...

Value of ventilation/perfusion scans versus perfusion scans alone in acute pulmonary embolism
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1992Abstract The value of ventilation/perfusion (V/Q) lung scans in the diagnosis of acute pulmonary embolism (PE) was described in the results of the collaborative study of the Prospective Investigation of Pulmonary Embolism Diagnosis (PIOPED). 1 The effects of preexisting cardiac or pulmonary disease and of a normal chest radiograph on the diagnostic ...

Perfusion Lung Scan in Normal Volunteers
Radiology, 1973The appearance of the lung scans in 61 clinically asymptomatic volunteers is described. Of the 61 volunteers, 16% (10 subjects) exhibited some type of perfusion defect. Six subjects exhibited subtle defects, the exact nature of which is unknown. Of the 4 other subjects with major perfusion abnormalities, 3 were indistinguishable from pulmonary embolism.
