Xenon Ventilation-Perfusion Lung Scans

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1979
ABSTRACT To the Editor.— In their article "Xenon Ventilation-Perfusion Lung Scans: The Early Diagnosis of Inhalation Injury," Schall et al (240:2441, 1978) suggest that the "widespread application of this test will reduce the mortality associated with severe thermal burns." Their study has shown that ventilation-perfusion lung scan is a sensitive test ...

Value of ventilation/perfusion scans versus perfusion scans alone in acute pulmonary embolism

The American Journal of Cardiology, 1992
Abstract The value of ventilation/perfusion (V/Q) lung scans in the diagnosis of acute pulmonary embolism (PE) was described in the results of the collaborative study of the Prospective Investigation of Pulmonary Embolism Diagnosis (PIOPED). 1 The effects of preexisting cardiac or pulmonary disease and of a normal chest radiograph on the diagnostic ...

Myocardial perfusion scans.

Australian family physician, 2014
Coronary artery disease (CAD) remains a major health concern and the leading cause of death in Australia. Effective assessment of patients for possible CAD is a common problem in general practice. Non-invasive tests such as myocardial perfusion scans (MPS), exercise stress tests (ESTs) and stress echocardiography (using exercise or dobutamine as the ...

Perfusion Lung Scan in Normal Volunteers

Radiology, 1973
The appearance of the lung scans in 61 clinically asymptomatic volunteers is described. Of the 61 volunteers, 16% (10 subjects) exhibited some type of perfusion defect. Six subjects exhibited subtle defects, the exact nature of which is unknown. Of the 4 other subjects with major perfusion abnormalities, 3 were indistinguishable from pulmonary embolism.

Perfusion Lung Scan in Lymphangitic Carcinomatosis

Clinical Nuclear Medicine, 2001
The authors describe the findings of perfusion lung scintigraphy in a case of lymphangitic carcinomatosis in a 30-year-old man with recent symptoms of progressive dyspnea, hypoxemia, and thoracic pain. The diagnosis of lymphangitic carcinomatosis was made by transbronchial lung biopsy. The primary tumor was a gastric adenocarcinoma.
