Palaeobiogeographical constraints on the distribution of foraminifers and rugose corals in the Carboniferous Tindouf Basin, South Morocco

open access: yesJournal of Palaeogeography, 2013
The northern flank of the Tindouf Syncline in southern Morocco exhibits a continuous, well exposed Carboniferous succession with limestones of Late Asbian to Early Bashkirian age containing rich and diverse foraminiferal and rugose coral assemblages ...

Biostratigraphy and palaeoecology of marine microphytoplankton cysts from Member 4 of the Mila Formation, Mila Kuh, eastern Alborz [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stratigraphy and Sedimentology Researches, 2019
Well preserved and diverse organic-walled marine microphytoplankton cysts (acritarchs sensu lato) occur in Member 4 (comprising mostly of fine-grained clastics with thin carbonate intercalations) of the Mila Formation at the type section, southwestern ...

A unique occurrence of a psammosteid heterostracan on the peri-Gondwanan shelf in the Lower/Middle Devonian boundary marine deposits [PDF]

open access: yesFossil Imprint, 2016
A rare psammosteid heterostracan (Agnatha) occurrence in the Devonian of the Prague Basin is indicative of a dry land influence in the regional palaeogeography. This argument is strongly supported by the appearance of vascular plants, but the studied vertebrates allow us to presume a local brackish water environment.

The appearance of Rosenella (stromatoporoid sponge) in Baltica: new species from the Pirgu Stage (Katian, Upper Ordovician) of Estonia [PDF]

open access: yesEstonian Journal of Earth Sciences
The Katian Age, part of the Late Ordovician Epoch, was a period of significant stromatoporoid diversification. However, their fossil record is often less continuous, hindering our understanding of their diversity and diversification.

Banded amphibolites in the Alps: a new interpretation in relation to early Paleozoic peraluminous magmatism

open access: yesSwiss Journal of Geosciences, 2020
The Strona-Ceneri Zone is located south of the Insubric line, where Alpine overprint is mainly brittle and of low grade or even absent. Apart from the unmetamorphic Permo-Carboniferous sediments and intrusiva the Strona-Ceneri Zone is an Ordovician ...

Temognatha sundholmi Lang sp. nov. (Coleoptera: Buprestidae), a New Species From the Great Victoria Desert and New Host Plants: An Investigation Using DNA Barcoding With Implications for Taxonomy of Temognatha and Melobasis

open access: yesAustral Entomology, Volume 65, Issue 3, August 2026.
ABSTRACT A new species of jewel beetle, Temognatha sundholmi Lang, sp. nov., is described from the Great Victoria Desert in South Australia. A broader investigation, using mtDNA COI ‘barcode’ sequences from 178 specimens representing 54 buprestid species, places the new species with Temognatha flavocincta (Gory & Laporte, 1838) in the informal ...

Paleomagnetic Constraints on the Separation of the Olongbuluke Block From the North China Block During the Late Cambrian–Middle Ordovician and Its Tectonic Significance

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 13, 16 July 2026.
Abstract The collisional evolution of the micro‐blocks in the northeastern Tibetan Plateau is relatively well constrained. However, the reason why a fragment of the North China Block, the Olongbuluke Block, became separated from North China by the Central Qilian Block (a fragment of the South China Block) remains unclear.

Peri-Gondwanan terranes in the Romanian Carpathians: A review of their spatial distribution, origin, provenance, and evolution

open access: yesGeoscience Frontiers, 2014
AbstractThe basement of the Romanian Carpathians is made of Neoproterozoic to early Paleozoic peri-Gondwanan terranes variably involved in the Variscan orogeny, similarly to other basement terrains of Europe. They were hardly dismembered during the Alpine orogeny and traditionally have their own names in the three Carpathian areas.

Cambrian small shelly fossils from North Greenland (eastern Laurentia; Series 2, Stage 4) with regional and global correlations

open access: yesPapers in Palaeontology, Volume 12, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
Abstract Cambrian Series 2 represents a key interval for documenting the evolution and diversification of early biomineralized skeletal animals. In this interval, small shelly fossils (SSF) provide an essential archive for regional biostratigraphy and intercontinental correlation.

PENNSYLVANIAN CONODONTS AND MICROFACIES FROM NORTHEASTERN MEXICO (TAMATÁN GROUP, CIUDAD VICTORIA BLOCK)

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia
The biostratigraphic analysis of the Paleozoic sedimentary successions in Mexico is crucial for understanding their age, depositional setting, and paleogeographic implications.
