open access: yesAustralian Dental Journal, 2017
AbstractBackgroundThis study describes the cross sectional and longitudinal data of endodontic and periapical status of new patients presenting to a major dental hospital, and assesses the relationships between tooth‐related variables with apical periodontitis.MethodsThe records of 695 patients were randomly selected and the orthopantomograms of these ...

Evaluating the Periapical Status of Teeth with Irreversible Pulpitis by Using Cone-beam Computed Tomography Scanning and Periapical Radiographs

Journal of Endodontics, 2012
The purpose of this study was to compare the prevalence of apical periodontitis (AP) on individual roots of teeth with irreversible pulpitis viewed with periapical (PA) radiographs and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans.PA radiographs and CBCT scans were taken of 138 teeth in 130 patients diagnosed with irreversible pulpitis (symptomatic and ...

Agreement between periapical radiographs and cone-beam computed tomography for assessment of periapical status of root filled molar teeth

International Endodontic Journal, 2013
AbstractAimTo assess the agreement between periapical radiograph (PA) and cone‐beam computed tomography (CBCT) for periapical assessment of root filled maxillary and mandibular molars.MethodologyPeriapical radiograph and CBCT (iCat) images of 60 previously root filled molars (30 maxillary and 30 mandibular) were obtained at a review clinic.

An investigation of the periapical status of post crowned teeth

Journal of Dentistry, 1981
Abstract The apical status of 66 post crowned teeth has been assessed 5 years after crowning. There was a wide variation in the placement of the root filling in relation to the physiological apex. There was periapical bone loss around 7·7 per cent of correctly placed root fillings, 47·1 per cent of root fillings placed short of the apex, and 75·0 per

An evaluation of the periapical status of teeth with necrotic pulps using periapical radiography and cone‐beam computed tomography

International Endodontic Journal, 2013
AbstractAimTo evaluate the presence or absence of periapical (PA) radiolucencies on individual roots of teeth with necrotic pulps, as assessed with digital PA radiographs and cone‐beam computed tomography (CBCT).MethodologyDigital PA radiographs and CBCT scans were taken from 161 endodontically untreated teeth (from 155 patients) diagnosed with non ...

Present status and future directions: Imaging techniques for the detection of periapical lesions

International Endodontic Journal, 2022

Underfilled Root Canal as a Factor Affecting the Periapical Status

2021
Pulp diseases treatment may lead to complications, such as the development of apical periodontitis registered with the help of X-ray examination. At the same time, a dentist might provide endodontic treatment associated with apical periodontitis in case there are relevant X-ray changes.

Periapical status and prevalence of endodontic treatment in an adult Dutch population

International Endodontic Journal, 1993
