Pericardiectomy causing abdominal hernia incarceration [PDF]

open access: yesInteractive CardioVascular and Thoracic Surgery, 2011

Acute Ischemic and Hemorrhagic Cerebrovascular Strokes After Cardiac Surgery: Incidence, Predictors, and Outcomes

open access: yesCritical Care Research and Practice, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Background: Many studies have attempted to determine the incidence, predictors, and outcomes of cerebrovascular stroke after cardiac surgery, with different, sometimes contradictory, results because of differences in population risk profiles, study design, and surgical details.

Pneumococcal Pyopericardium With Xiphoid Osteomyelitis in HIV/AIDS: A Rare but Potentially Fatal Complication

open access: yesCase Reports in Cardiology, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Background: Purulent pericarditis is a rare, life‐threatening condition that has become exceedingly uncommon due to widespread use of antibiotics. However, immunocompromised patients remain susceptible to such opportunistic infections. It is typically caused by direct extension or hematogenous spread from a secondary bacterial source. Case Description:

Coronary Artery Perforation: Insights and Outcomes From a 13‐Year Experience at a District General Hospital

open access: yesJournal of Interventional Cardiology, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Introduction and Objectives: Coronary artery perforation (CAP) is a rare but potentially fatal complication of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Although its management is well‐studied in tertiary care settings, little is known about the incidence and treatment patterns at district general hospitals (DGHs), which this study explored.

Unraveling Heart Inflammation: Recurrent Myopericarditis Caused by Coxsackie A Virus—A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 12, Issue 12, December 2024.
ABSTRACT Acute recurrent myopericarditis, characterized by the occurrence of a new myopericarditis event following a symptom‐free interval of 4–6 weeks, is relatively rare lacking definitive guidelines for management. Understanding its prevalence, causes, and optimal management is challenging due to limited data and insufficient guidelines.

Ventricular fibrillation during thoracoscopic pericardiectomy in a St. Bernard dog

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 12, Issue 4, December 2024.
Abstract Ventricular fibrillation is one of the known complications of pericardiectomy in veterinary medicine. We present a case of ventricular fibrillation occurring during thoracoscopic pericardiectomy in a 2‐year‐old St. Bernard dog. Despite prompt recognition, immediate resuscitation efforts‐based chest compressions and mechanical ventilation, drug
