Unveiling VEXAS Syndrome: When Skin Manifestations and Monoclonal Gammopathy Precede Myeloid‐Lineage Hematologic Abnormality

open access: yesACR Open Rheumatology, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2025.
VEXAS (vacuoles, E1 enzyme, X‐linked, autoinflammatory, somatic) syndrome is a rare disorder caused by somatic UBA1 gene mutations, characterized by autoinflammation and hematologic abnormalities, particularly affecting myeloid‐lineage progenitors. Sensitive markers include macrocytic anemia, vacuolization of bone marrow precursors, and myelodysplasia.

Atherosclerotic Plaque Progression and Incident Cardiovascular Events in a 10‐Year Prospective Study of Patients With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: The Impact of Persistent Cardiovascular Risk Factor Target Attainment and Sustained DORIS Remission

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Volume 77, Issue 6, Page 716-726, June 2025.
Objective Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of death in individuals with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We assessed atherosclerotic plaque progression and incident cardiovascular events in patients with SLE over a 10‐year follow‐up.

Successful Treatment of Infective Endocarditis at 33 Weeks' Gestation Causing Acute Left Heart Failure

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 6, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Although infective endocarditis (IE) during pregnancy is rare, it is associated with high maternal and fetal mortality rates. Educating pregnant women on infection prevention is essential. If IE occurs, multidisciplinary collaboration is important to determine an optimal strategy for childbirth and surgery in its successful management.

Long‐term of epicardial radiofrequency ablation and benefit for recurrent ventricular arrhythmia in Brugada syndrome: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 41, Issue 3, June 2025.
Epicardial radiofrequency ablation significantly reduces recurrent ventricular arrhythmias and ICD shocks in Brugada syndrome, with excellent long‐term safety and no reported mortality. Epicardial ablation is an effective strategy for sustained rhythm stabilization. Abstract Background Brugada syndrome (BrS) is a rare cardiac channelopathy linked to an

Regional outbreak of parvovirus B19 acute myocarditis in preschool children

open access: yesPediatric Investigation, Volume 9, Issue 2, Page 181-184, June 2025.
We recently came across an outbreak of parvovirus B19 related acute myocarditis in preschool children in a specific region in northern Greece. The children exhibited serious morbidity and mortality. All children had very poor left ventricular ejection fraction and required inotropic intensive care unit support.

Resolution of a caudal mediastinal paraoesophageal empyema in a cat without surgical intervention

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 2, June 2025.
Abstract A 5‐year‐old, male, neutered European shorthair cat presented with hyporexia and acute respiratory distress of 2 weeks. Thoracic radiographs showed pleural effusion and two round masses in the dorsal thoracic cavity. Computed tomography revealed a caudal mediastinal paraoesophageal empyema, and there were no signs of a foreign body.
