Updates on the Global Prevalence and Etiology of Constrictive Pericarditis: A Systematic Review
Cardiology in Review, 2023Constrictive pericarditis is a rare disease with poorly understood epidemiology. A systematic literature search was adopted to assess the region- and period-specific traits of constrictive pericarditis through Pubmed, EMBASE, and Scopus. Case reports and

Pericardiectomy for Constrictive Pericarditis: Analysis of Outcomes.
Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia, 2021Constrictive pericarditis is caused by pericardial inflammation and fibrosis, leading to diastolic heart failure. The diagnosis requires a high index of suspicion because it often can mimic restrictive myocardial disease and cardiac tamponade and can be ...

Effusive–constrictive pericarditis in the spectrum of pericardial compressive syndromes
Heart, 2021When pericardial fluid accumulates and exceed the reserve volume of the pericardium or when the pericardium becomes scarred and inelastic, one of three pericardial compressive syndromes may ensue, namely, cardiac tamponade (CT), characterised by the ...

Anakinra for constrictive pericarditis associated with incessant or recurrent pericarditis
Heart, 2020Objective Frequent flares of pericardial inflammation in recurrent or incessant pericarditis with corticosteroid dependence and colchicine resistance may represent a risk factor for constrictive pericarditis (CP).

Constrictive pericarditis is a potentially treatable cause of diastolic heart failure that arises because a diseased, inelastic pericardium restricts ventricular diastolic expansion. Affected patients present with heart failure with predominant right-sided symptoms and signs.

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1976
A patient with constrictive pericarditis following an open-heart operation without sepsis is discussed. In the absence of sepsis, it has been widely held that this complication does not develop following an open-heart procedure. The fatal outcome in this patient could have been avoided had such an association been known.

Hemodynamics of constrictive pericarditis and restrictive cardiomyopathy
Catheterization and cardiovascular interventions, 2020Constrictive pericarditis (CP) and restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM) are indolent disabling diseases of diastolic function. The two conditions share common pathophysiologic features, resulting in similar and overlapping clinical presentations ...
