Pericardiectomy for Constrictive Pericarditis: Analysis of Outcomes.
Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia, 2021Constrictive pericarditis is caused by pericardial inflammation and fibrosis, leading to diastolic heart failure. The diagnosis requires a high index of suspicion because it often can mimic restrictive myocardial disease and cardiac tamponade and can be ...

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1976
A patient with constrictive pericarditis following an open-heart operation without sepsis is discussed. In the absence of sepsis, it has been widely held that this complication does not develop following an open-heart procedure. The fatal outcome in this patient could have been avoided had such an association been known.

Anakinra for constrictive pericarditis associated with incessant or recurrent pericarditis
Heart, 2020Objective Frequent flares of pericardial inflammation in recurrent or incessant pericarditis with corticosteroid dependence and colchicine resistance may represent a risk factor for constrictive pericarditis (CP).

Hemodynamics of constrictive pericarditis and restrictive cardiomyopathy
Catheterization and cardiovascular interventions, 2020Constrictive pericarditis (CP) and restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM) are indolent disabling diseases of diastolic function. The two conditions share common pathophysiologic features, resulting in similar and overlapping clinical presentations ...

Tricuspid valve regurgitation in patients undergoing pericardiectomy for constrictive pericarditis.
Seminars in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 2020OBJECTIVE We hypothesized that tricuspid valve regurgitation was associated with increased risk of mortality after pericardiectomy for constrictive pericarditis.

Cardiology Clinics, 1990
Constrictive pericarditis is a complex disorder characterized by abnormal thickening of the pericardium that leads to pathologic changes in cardiac hemodynamic data. The disorder can be suspected by history and physical findings. Data from echocardiography, CT, and MRI offer diagnostic information.

Pericardiectomy for constrictive pericarditis
The Multimedia Manual of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 2020Chronic constrictive pericarditis results from inflammation and fibrosis of the pericardium. This situation eventually leads to impairment of diastolic filling and right heart failure. Once the diagnosis is made, because the disease is basically irreversible, a pericardiectomy is the mandatory treatment.

Effusive–Constrictive Pericarditis
New England Journal of Medicine, 2004Effusive-constrictive pericarditis is an uncommon pericardial syndrome characterized by concomitant tamponade, caused by tense pericardial effusion, and constriction, caused by the visceral pericardium. We conducted a prospective study of its clinical evolution and management. From 1986 through 2001, all patients with effusive-constrictive pericarditis ...
