Seipin‐Mediated Lipid Droplet Formation in Cardiomyocytes Ameliorates Cardiac Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lipid droplets (LDs) protect the heart against lipotoxicity in cardiac ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury; however, they are insufficient to prevent cardiomyocyte death. Seipin plays a central role in the insufficient formation of LDs, subsequent lipotoxicity, and myocardial injury during cardiac I/R injury.

Congenital complete absence of the pericardium: A multimodality imaging diagnostic approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The complete congenital absence of the pericardium is a rare and benign condition, which often presents a diagnostic dilemma. We reported a case of essentially complete absence of the pericardium with an otherwise normal heart in a 16 year old that was ...

Biodegradable Adhesive Systems for Bio‐Integrated Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Biodegradable adhesives provide temporary yet reliable adhesion while degrading into safe, non‐toxic by‐products under physiological or environmental conditions. This review summarizes recent developments in physical and chemical adhesion mechanisms—including hydrogen bonding, catechol chemistry, amine‐carboxyl coupling, and emerging diazirine and urea

Light‐Gated Thermal Domains in Nano‐Lanterns: Confined Heat Hotspots Sparks Electron Localization for Water Purification

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A pore heat‐confined hollow porous canbon nanosphere catalyst is synthesized, with superior photo‐induced heat/redox response, revolutionizing peroxyacetic acid (PAA) activation for sustainable water purification. It overcomes traditional thermal PAA oxidation's energy inefficiency, enabling rapid pollutant degradation with a rate constant 11 times ...

Presentation of pericardial hydatid cyst as acute cardiac tamponade

open access: yesAsian Journal of Surgery, 2017
We report a case of a 47-year-old man with isolated pericardial hydatid cyst (without myocardial involvement) that presented as acute pericardial tamponade. After initial investigation and transthoracic echocardiography, emergent pericardial drainage was

Noninvasive Imaging of Pericardium

open access: yes대한영상의학회지, 2020
The clinical manifestation of pericardial disease is similar to that of coronary artery disease and aortic disease. Therefore, a timely and accurate diagnosis is necessary.
