Summary To address a critical gap in understanding amino acid transport in legume–Rhizobium symbiosis, we investigated the role of symbiosis‐associated USUALLY MULTIPLE ACIDS MOVE IN AND OUT TRANSPORTERS (UMAMITs) in Medicago truncatula nodulation.

Plants growing from seeds treated with morphactin were small and changed, they did not flower. The apical buds of some seedlings died back. Disturbances of geotropism were observed in the shoots and roots.

ABSTRACT The Orobanchaceae family, the largest group of parasitic plants, spans a complete spectrum from autotrophic to holoparasitic species. As a typical endangered holoparasitic species within this family, Cistanche deserticola is a parasitic plant that is widely harvested for traditional medicine in desertic regions, and of growing importance as a ...

Artificial soil (ArtSoil): Recreating soil conditions in synthetic plant growth media
SUMMARY Controlled plant growth in laboratories can be achieved by cultivating plants under sterile or axenic conditions on predefined synthetic growth media, typically supplemented with sugar. In nature, plants do not receive exogenous sugar supplies, form symbiosis with microbes, and plant growth is influenced by soil edaphic factors.

Auxin regulates adventitious root formation in tomato cuttings
Background Adventitious root (AR) formation is a critical developmental process in cutting propagation for the horticultural industry. While auxin has been shown to regulate this process, the exact mechanism and details preceding AR formation remain ...

Quiescent center initiation in the Arabidopsislateral root primordia is dependent on the SCARECROW transcription factor [PDF]
Lateral root (LR) formation is an important determinant of root system architecture. In Arabidopsis, LRs originate from pericycle cells, which undergo a programme of morphogenesis to generate a new LR meristem.

λ‐Orthogonal Pericyclic Macromolecular Photoligation
AbstractA photochemical strategy enabling λ‐orthogonal reactions is introduced to construct macromolecular architectures and to encode variable functional groups with site‐selective precision into a single molecule by the choice of wavelength. λ‐Orthogonal pericyclic reactions proceed independently of one another by the selection of functional groups ...

Ubiquitin‐like SUMO protease expansion in rice (Oryza sativa L.)
Abstract SUMOylation is a protein post‐translational modification that is essential for plant growth and response to changing environments. However, past work in this area has mainly focused on simple sequence similarity methods for discovering SUMOylation genes, often using orthologue mapping from yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) or Arabidopsis ...

Free oxygen radicals regulate plasma membrane Ca2+- and K+-permeable channels in plant root cells [PDF]
Free oxygen radicals are an irrefutable component of life, underlying important biochemical and physiological phenomena in animals. Here it is shown that free oxygen radicals activate plasma membrane Ca²⁺- and K⁺-permeable conductances in Arabidopsis ...
