We provide a geomorphological analysis of Cordillera Vilcanota and use morphostratigraphic principles to reconstruct palaeo icefield extent and palaeoglacier readvances, likely during the Antarctic Cold Reversal and Younger Dryas. We find evidence of temperate and polythermal ice margins, with limited glaciofluvial landform generation.

Geomorphology of the Sierra del Aramo (Asturian Central Massif, Cantabrian Mountains, NW Spain)
A detailed geomorphological map of the Sierra del Aramo (Asturian Central Massif) is presented at a scale of 1:25,000. The Sierra del Aramo is one of the major middle-altitude mountains of the Asturian Central Massif (maximum altitude 1,791 m a.s.l ...

ABSTRACT Hummocky terrains are characterised by various geomorphological features that typically record processes associated with the downwasting of ice sheets. Common landforms in these areas include ramparts, linear ridges, kettle holes and ice‐walled lake plains.

The objective of this work is to conduct a detailed mapping of the Héðinsdalsjökull foreland, northern Iceland (65°39′N, 18°55′W). This cirque currently shows a variety of glacial and periglacial landforms derived from a complex deglaciation. Mapping was

ABSTRACT The Pyrenees have been considered a natural barrier for prehistoric populations. However, in recent years, Palaeolithic research has established connections between the two sides through the analysis of cherts. Among others, the presence of Chalosse cherts in sites on the southern slopes of the Pyrenees has proven the mobility of objects and ...

ABSTRACT Long‐term time series on changes in the cryosphere are becoming increasingly important. This study presents data from 20 years of ground temperature monitoring from the eastern‐most confirmed permafrost site in the European Alps (Hochreichart, Austria) spanning the period 2004–2024.

ABSTRACT The aim of this work is to study a variety of glacial, periglacial and paraglacial features found in a small cirque, Fremri‐Grasárdalur, in Tröllaskagi (Northern Iceland). We implement a multidisciplinary approach combining high‐resolution geomorphological mapping, horizontal/vertical boulder displacement (from 1994 to 2019) and surface ...

Mapping Earth Hummocks in Daisetsuzan National Park in Japan Using UAV-SfM Framework
Earth hummocks are periglacial landforms that are widely distributed in arctic and alpine regions. This study employed an uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) and a structure from motion (SfM) framework to map and analyze the spatial distribution and ...
