Does Perilymph Modify Cupula Deflection?
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1973The concept of perilymphatic actuation of the cupula proposed by Anliker & VanBuskirk (Acta Otolaryng 72, 93–100, 1971) has been reviewed and found that their model is based on a quite erroneous concept of the anatomy of the temporal bone. Careful study of serial slides of the temporal bone shows that the cupular deflection is caused primarily by flow ...

Pharmacology of Perilymph Production
ORL, 1974Perilymph is considered the sole source of nutritional supply to the cochlear hair cells as well as the sole carrier for the elimination of metabolites. An increase of the perilymph turnover rate implies an improvement of the hair cell metabolism. Any drug that enhances perilymph production might be a useful agent for the treatment of acute inner ear ...

Perilymph Fistulas: Clinical Criteria
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1992A perilymph fistula may be defined as an abnormal opening between the inner ear and the external surface of the labyrinth capsule, which allows the escape of perilymph and causes specific disorders of hearing, balance, or both. Its diagnosis remains somewhat controversial.

Perilymph fistula—a diagnostic dilemma
The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 1991AbstractA retrospective series is presented of 51 cases operated on for suspected perilymph fistula. In 26 ears a fistula was identified at surgery. A positive fistula test was found to strongly indicate a perilymph fistula but was more often negative than positive in surgically demonstrated fistula ears.

Perilymph fistula, an abnormal communication between the inner ear and the middle ear, is an enigmatic otologic disorder which may present with auditory or vestibular symptoms. It is typically located at the oval or round windows, but several other locations have been suggested. It may be congenital or spontaneous, or due to trauma or surgery. It often

The Origin of Perilymph Albumin
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1968Results are presented of analyses of serum, CSF, perilymph and endolymph electrophoretic mobilities in 24 cadaver ears. On an average, perilymph and CSF albumin had identical mobility whereas the mobility index of serum albumin was clearly slower than the other two.
