Annals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.This prospective randomized trial demonstrated that a 4‐day regimen of sulbactam/ampicillin significantly reduced the incidence of perineal wound infection (PWI) following abdominoperineal resection compared to a 1‐day cefmetazole regimen. This simple approach to antibiotic selection may be beneficial for preventing PWI.

We re‐investigated this cell replacement histologically and with three‐dimensional reconstructions. In the lesser pelvis, both Müllerian ducts fuse to form the uterovaginal canal.
