Subharmonic Hysteresis and Period Doubling Bifurcations for a Periodically Driven Laser

SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 1994
Summary: The authors consider the laser rate equations for a periodically modulated class \(B\) laser. The bifurcation diagram of the periodic solutions is analyzed both numerically and theoretically. The bifurcation parameter is the amplitude of the periodic modulations.

Hopf and period-doubling bifurcations in an electromechanical resonator

Applied Physics Letters, 2016
An electromechanical resonator is developed in which the dissipation can be dynamically eliminated. The resultant motional dynamics captured by the Van der Pol equation of motion opens up the possibility of a Hopf bifurcation where the mechanical resonance loses stability when the dissipation is eliminated and period-doubling bifurcations when the ...

Period doubling bifurcations in cardiac systems

Chaos, Solitons & Fractals, 1995
Abstract Adams et al. (1981), observed in their experiences with dogs, a decrease in the Electrical Fibrillation Threshold (EFT) by hypothermal conditions and coronary arterial ligament. In this paper, it is proved that there appears also a decrease in the EFT, produced by the intravenous injection of Ketalar in concentrations larger than 9 mg/Kg of ...

Period-doubling bifurcations in measure-preserving flows

Physics Letters A, 1990
Abstract We study period-doubling bifurcations in periodically driven two-dimensional flows, which are measure-preserving. We demonstrate on several examples, that this important bifurcation sequence proceeds very similarly and with the same universal constants, as in the Hamiltonian case of two degrees of freedom.

Sinusoidally Varying Period-Doubling Bifurcations

1999
Bifurcations of dynamic systems may be affected in a variety of ways if the parameter that controls the bifurcation is varied slowly. The variation may alter, delay, or eliminate the bifurcation, introduce new types of bifurcation, or change stability regions. The variation may be imposed deliberately to control the response of the system.
