Synergistic Cu‐Fe Interactions Enhance Phase Transformation Kinetics Toward High‐Performance CuFeS2‐Based All‐Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
CuFeS2 is found to induce the formation of intermediate phases, highlighting a strong Cu–Fe synergistic effect during conversion reactions in lithium all‐solid‐state batteries (Li‐SSBs). The integrated reaction pathway effectively suppresses phase separation and accelerates reaction kinetics, leading to enhanced electrochemical reversibility and ...

Structure‐Guided Dynamical Mechanics in Bioinspired Double Twisted Laminated Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores a dynamic mechanistic study of crack propagation and puncture testing via real‐time monitoring of crack initiation, propagation, and termination through nature‐inspired single and double twisted architectures fabricated from cellulose nanocrystals.

Period doubling in a model of magnetoconvection with Ohmic heating

open access: yes
We study an idealized model of rotating nonlinear magnetoconvection to investigate the effects of Ohmic heating. In the overstable region we find that Ohmic heating can lead to a period-doubling sequence.

Age-related Differences in Implicit Sequence Learning and Consolidation across the Human Life Span: Implications for the Functioning of the Fronto-Striatal Circuitry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Implicit sequence learning occurs when information is acquired from an environment of complex stimuli without conscious access either to what was learned or to the fact that learning occurred.

Mode transitions in a model reaction-diffusion system driven by domain growth and noise

open access: yes, 2006
Pattern formation in many biological systems takes place during growth of the underlying domain. We study a specific example of a reaction–diffusion (Turing) model in which peak splitting, driven by domain growth, generates a sequence of patterns.

Double‐Interpenetrating Composite Bioink for Multi‐Component 3D Bioprinting and Biofabrication

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Marine‐polysaccharides‐derived double interpenetrating network hydrogel‐based bioink, combining the attributes of physical and ionic crosslinking, enables room‐temperature bioprinting of mechanically defined structures that can be handled and are cytocompatible.

Quadratic Convergence in Period Doubling to Chaos for Trapezoid Maps

open access: yes, 1998
The trapezoid mapge(x) is defined for fixede∈(0,1) byge(x)=x/eforx∈[0,e],ge(x)=1 forx∈(e,2−e), andge(x)=(2−x)/eforx∈[2−e,2].

Sustainable Electrochemical Synthesis of High‐Quality MXenes: Mechanistic Insights, Applications, Challenges, and Technological Prospects

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electrochemical etching provides an eco‐friendly alternative to hazardous HF methods for MXene production. This approach facilitates the selective isolation of the A‐layer from MAX phases with tunable surface terminations. Controlling voltage, electrolytes, temperature, and duration enables the optimal structural integrity. Nevertheless, existing scale

Targeting Post‐Irradiation Thyroid Dysfunction: Electrospun Scaffolds As A Dual‐Action Approach for Antioxidant and Immune Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

The Punk-Rock King : musical anachronism in period film

open access: yes, 2013
Music has a powerful indexical ability to evoke particular times and places. Such an ability has been exploited at length by the often-elaborate soundscapes of period films, which regularly utilise incidental scores and featured period songs to help root
