Evidence for a new period-doubling sequence in four-dimensional symplectic maps
Physical Review A, 1985We have numerically investigated period-doubling bifurcations in four-dimensional symplectic maps. Our study indicates the existence of a universally self-similar period-doubling sequence. Unlike the two-dimensional case, the fixed-point map has two unstable directions under the period-doubling operator with two relevant eigenvalues 8.721 097 2 and -15.

Sequence of global period doubling bifurcation in the Hénon maps
Chaos, Solitons and Fractals, 2002The paper presents a mainly numerically based investigation of the Hénon map \(h(x,y)=(by+1-ax^2,x)\) for \(b=\pm 1\) in dependence on~\(a\), observing several parameter values where a period doubling bifurcation occurs.

Chaos in a Farey Sequence through Period Doubling in the Peroxidase-Oxidase Reaction
The Journal of Physical Chemistry, 1994The dynamic properties of the peroxidase-oxidase reaction are investigated in a continuous flow stirred tank reactor (CSTR) in the free running mode. We report the first experimental period-doubling route to chaos in a Farey sequence by varying the O 2 flow.

Summary form only given. The optical period-doubling behavior is a nonlinear phenomenon observed in the laser with periodical modulation and saturated absorption. Recently, the semiconductor laser amplifier in loop mirror (SLALOM) has been extensively investigated as an ultrahigh-speed optical switch.

Abstract We show that power spectra of the forced Brusselator, exhibiting period-doubling bifurcations, have universal properties. The ratio between the intensities of successive subharmonics for the forced Brusselator and the logistic difference equation is numerically found to be 4.7–4.8 which is somewhat different from Feigenbaum's ratio of 6.6.
