Period Doubling of Dissipative-Soliton-Resonance Pulses in Passively Mode-Locked Fiber Lasers

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2020
Period-doubled dissipative-soliton-resonance (DSR) pulses are numerically investigated in a Yb-doped fiber laser based on non-linear amplifying loop mirror (NALM).

Doubly periodic solutions of the focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation: Recurrence, period doubling, and amplification outside the conventional modulation-instability band [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 2019
Solitons on a finite background, also called breathers, are solutions of the focusing nonlinear Schrodinger equation, which play a pivotal role in the description of rogue waves and modulation instability. The breather family includes Akhmediev breathers

Periodicity-doubling cascades [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2019
Very sensitive responses to external forces are found near phase transitions. However, transition dynamics and preequilibrium phenomena are difficult to detect and control. We have observed that the equilibrium domain structure following a phase transition in ferroelectric and ferroelastic BaTiO3 is attained by halving of the domain periodicity ...

Transition to Periodic Behaviour of Flow Past a Circular Cylinder under the Action of Fluidic Actuation in the Transitional Regime

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
This study focuses on the numerical investigation of the underlying mechanism of transition from chaotic to periodic dynamics of circular cylinder wake under the action of time-dependent fluidic actuation at the Reynolds number = 2000.

Breach and recurrence of dissipative soliton resonance during period-doubling evolution in a fiber laser

open access: yes, 2020
We report on the experimental observation of period-doubling bifurcation of dissipative-soliton-resonance (DSR) pulses in a fiber laser passively mode-locked by using the nonlinear optical loop mirror.

Predicting Tipping Points in Chaotic Maps with Period-Doubling Bifurcations

open access: yesComplexity, 2021
In this paper, bifurcation points of two chaotic maps are studied: symmetric sine map and Gaussian map. Investigating the properties of these maps shows that they have a variety of dynamical solutions by changing the bifurcation parameter.

Chaos and period-doubling vibration in superconducting levitation systems

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
For high-temperature superconducting levitation systems, chaotic vibrations occurred under external disturbance, as shown in previous studies. The electromagnetic characteristic of a high-temperature superconductor (HTSC) plays a crucial role in the ...

Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis of an Electrostatically Actuated Clamped–Clamped Beam and Excited at the Primary and Secondary Resonances

open access: yesMicromachines, 2023
This work investigates the primary and secondary resonances of an electrostatically excited double-clamped microbeam and its feasibility to be used for sensing applications.

Alternating period-doubling cascades

open access: yesNonlinearity, 2013
We consider period-doubling cascades in two-dimensional iterated maps. We define forward and backward period-doubling bifurcations, and use these concepts to describe an alternating period-doubling cascade in which forward and backward period-doubling bifurcations alternate.
