Interface Ferromagnetism in a SrMnO3/LaMnO3 Superlattice

open access: yes, 2012
Resonant soft x-ray absorption measurements at the O K edge on a SrMnO3/LaMnO3 superlattice show a shoulder at the energy of doped holes, which corresponds to the main peak of resonant scattering from the modulation in the doped hole density.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Detection of free core nutation resonance variation in Earth tide from global superconducting gravimeter observations

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space, 2018
In order to verify the time variability of free core nutation (FCN) period, global superconducting gravimeter (SG) observations were analyzed based on synthetic test data.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Temporal trends in the prevalence of asthma and rhinoconjunctivitis in adolescents

open access: yesRevista de Saúde Pública, 2015
OBJECTIVE To analyze the temporal trend of asthma and rhinoconjunctivitis prevalences as well as their symptoms in adolescents. METHODS Two cross-sectional studies were conducted using the same methodology and questionnaire as was used for adolescents ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

The Light and Period Variations of the Eclipsing Binary AA Ursae Majoris

open access: yes, 2010
We present new multiband CCD photometry for AA UMa made on 8 nights between January and March 2009; the $R$ light curves are the first ever compiled. Historical light curves, as well as ours, display partial eclipses and inverse O'Connell effects with ...

Variations in the period of the sunspot cycle

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 1993
Using a wavelet analysis approach, subtle variations in the solar cycle period were extracted from the yearly means of the sunspot numbers. For the nominal eleven‐year solar cycle, the resulting estimates of the cycle's period are in good agreement with those given by Friis‐Christensen and Lassen.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.
