Annual molt period and seasonal color variation in the Eared Dove´s crown.
Molting is an important process in which old and worn feathers are exchanged for new ones. Plumage color is determined by pigments such as carotenes, melanin and by the ultrastructure of the feather.

Temporal and spatial dynamics of gastrointestinal parasite infection in Père David’s deer [PDF]
Background The Père David’s deer (Elaphurus davidianus) population was established from only a small number of individuals. Their genetic diversity is therefore relatively low and transmissible (parasitic) diseases affecting them merit further attention.

Thermal conductivity of semiconductor superlattices: Experimental study of interface scattering [PDF]
We present thermal conductivity measurements performed in three short-period (GaAs)_9(AlAs)_5 superlattices. The samples were grown at different temperatures, leading to different small scale roughness and broadening of the interfaces.

The Onset of Quasi-Periodic Variations in Be Stars [PDF]
We present some evidence of the quasi-periodic long-term variations (QPLV) in the violet-to-red ratio of double-peaked emission lines (V/R variation) and/or in the radial velocities of shell absorption lines for some Be stars. Although the V/R variations are rather prevailing phenomena among Be stars, the QPLV is remarkable by the following ...

On the Variation of Fourier Parameters for Galactic and LMC Cepheids at Optical, Near-Infrared and Mid-Infrared Wavelengths [PDF]
We present a light curve analysis of fundamental-mode Galactic and Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) Cepheids based on the Fourier decomposition technique. We have compiled light curve data for Galactic and LMC Cepheids in optical ({\it VI}), near-infrared ({\

A Period Study of the Close Binary V651 Cassiopeiae [PDF]
All times of minimum light of V651 Cas, which is still less studied so far, were analyzed. From our analysis, it was found that the orbital period of the system may have varied in a periodic manner.

Age-period-cohort analysis of incidence and/or mortality data has received much attention in the literature. To circumvent the non-identifiability problem inherent in the age-period-cohort model, additional constraints are necessary on the parameters ...

Identifying ecological drivers of disease transmission is central to understanding disease risks. For vector-borne diseases, temperature is a major determinant of transmission because vital parameters determining the fitness of parasites and vectors are ...

Analysis of a Kepler Light Curve of the Novalike Cataclysmic Variable KIC 8751494
We analyzed a Kepler light curve of KIC 8751494, a recently recognized novalike cataclysmic variable in the Kepler field. We detected a stable periodicity of 0.114379(1) d, which we identified as being the binary's orbital period.
