Analysis of periodic growth–disturbance models

Theoretical Population Biology, 2004
In this paper, I present and discuss a potentially useful modeling approach for investigating population dynamics in the presence of disturbance. Using the motivating example of wildfire, I construct and analyze a deterministic model of population dynamics with periodic disturbances independent of spatial effects.

Periodic and Discrete Analysis

2010
In this chapter we will review basics of the periodic and discrete analysis which will be necessary for development of the theory of pseudo-differential operators on the torus in Chapter 4. Our aim is to make these two chapters accessible independently for people who choose periodic pseudo-differential operators as a starting point for learning about ...

Short-period and Long-period Analysis

1987
The explicit introduction of time and movement into economic theory appears to be a relatively new development, typical of our generation. This is indeed surprising. Our thinking must have been obscured by the prestige of the physical sciences for us to attribute to our timeless constructions virtues other than those of an excellent ‘early morning ...

THE MULTI-PERIOD CONSUMPTION INVESTMENT PROBLEM AND SINGLE PERIOD ANALYSIS

Oxford Economic Papers, 1974
IN recent years multi-period consumption investment models have received increasing attention in the economic literature. This represents a departure from economists' early preoccupation with single-period models. Given the vast number of normative and descriptive models which have been derived based on the assumption that single-period decisions were ...

Periodic uncertainty in periodic spectral analysis of processes associated with periodic phenomena

Proceedings of ICASSP '94. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2002
This work addresses the problem of trying to take advantage of the nominally periodic nature of a diesel engine running at constant speed to obtain a time-varying spectral description of vibration data over the shaft period. It requires addressing a number of issues, most notably period estimation and removal of tonal components whose presence in a ...

Polynomial time analysis of toroidal periodic graphs

Journal of Algorithms, 1994
Summary: A toroidal periodic graph \(G^D\) is defined by an integral \(d\times d\) matrix \(D\) and a directed graph \(G\) in which the edges are associated with \(d\)-dimensional integral vectors. The periodic graph has a vertex for each vertex of the static graph and for each integral position in the parallel piped defined by the columns of \(D ...

Optimal periodic control and periodic systems analysis: An overview

1986 25th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 1986
This paper is an overview of optimal periodic control and periodic systems analysis, with special emphasis on the results achieved in the last decade. The main issues are: Necessary and sufficient optimality conditions. Quasi-stationary and high frequency periodic control. Proper periodicity. Structural properties of linear periodic systems.

Periodic polynomials in the analysis of periodic cyclic systems

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2004
Abstract In this paper, we consider polynomials with periodic coefficients in discrete time, and we define some basic elements of periodic polynomials algebra, in particular the periodic Bezout identity and the notion of (weak and strong) coprimeness. With these notions, we treat some basic problems of periodic systems theory.

Log periodic circuit analysis

IRE International Convention Record, 2005
The paper deals with the analysis of a class of log-periodic circuits. Closed form expressions are developed for the Foster type LP networks with or without losses. It is proved that the locus of the input impedance of these networks on a reflection coefficient chart, e.g., on the Smith chart, is a circle for networks of order one. It is shown that for

Structural Analysis of Periodate-Oxidized Heparin

1992
Treatment of heparin with HONO at pH 1.5 cleaves the polymer at N-sulfated, but not at N-acetylated GlcN residues, and yields di- and tetrasaccharides. The GlcNSO3 residues at the sites of cleavage are converted into anhydromannose (AMan) residues.
