A periodicity analysis of transmembrane helices [PDF]

open access: yesBioinformatics, 2005
Transmembrane helices and the helical bundles which they form are the major building blocks of membrane proteins. Since helices are characterized by a given periodicity, it is possible to search for patterns of traits which typify one side of the helix and not the other (e.g. amphipathic helices contain a polar and apolar sides).

Effect of Wavelet Selection on Periodic Steady-State Analysis

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
This paper presents a study of the effect wavelet selection has on the density of the Jacobian matrix and nodal waveform coefficients of wavelet based periodic steady-state analysis of electrical circuits. For the presented case studies, it is shown that

Complex periodic potentials with real band spectra

open access: yes, 1998
This paper demonstrates that complex PT-symmetric periodic potentials possess real band spectra. However, there are significant qualitative differences in the band structure for these potentials when compared with conventional real periodic potentials ...

Almost Periodic Solution for Memristive Neural Networks with Time-Varying Delays

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2013
This paper is concerned with the dynamical stability analysis for almost periodic solution of memristive neural networks with time-varying delays. Under the framework of Filippov solutions, by applying the inequality analysis techniques, the existence ...

Analysis of multiple bifurcation behavior for periodic structures

open access: yesArchives of Mechanics, 2020
The classification of simple singularities in the post-buckling analysis of truss structures is well-known for elastic stability. To focus on multiple singularities including a hilltop bifurcation point (h-BP) and its bifurcation paths, we reviewed the ...

Exact one-periodic and two-periodic wave solutions to Hirota bilinear equations in 2+1 dimensions

open access: yes, 2008
Riemann theta functions are used to construct one-periodic and two-periodic wave solutions to a class of (2+1)-dimensional Hirota bilinear equations.

A Quality Improvement Initiative to Standardize Pneumocystis jirovecii Pneumonia Prophylaxis in Pediatric Patients With Solid Tumors

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric patients with extracranial solid tumors (ST) receiving chemotherapy are at an increased risk for Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP). However, evidence guiding prophylaxis practices in this population is limited. A PJP‐related fatality at our institution highlighted inconsistent prescribing approaches and concerns about

Integral Equation Analysis of EM Scattering from Multilayered Metallic Photonic Crystal Accelerated with Adaptive Cross Approximation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2015
A space-domain integral equation method accelerated with adaptive cross approximation (ACA) is presented for the fast and accurate analysis of electromagnetic (EM) scattering from multilayered metallic photonic crystal (MPC).

Justification of the coupled-mode approximation for a nonlinear elliptic problem with a periodic potential

open access: yes, 2007
Coupled-mode systems are used in physical literature to simplify the nonlinear Maxwell and Gross-Pitaevskii equations with a small periodic potential and to approximate localized solutions called gap solitons by analytical expressions involving ...

Psychosocial Outcomes in Patients With Endocrine Tumor Syndromes: A Systematic Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The combination of disease manifestations, the familial burden, and varying penetrance of endocrine tumor syndromes (ETSs) is unique. This review aimed to portray and summarize available data on psychosocial outcomes in patients with ETSs and explore gaps and opportunities for future research and care.
