A model was developed for predicting the periodic annual volume increment (PAI) of forests using variables commonly recorded through field surveys or the remote sensing. The model was developed using the Italian National Forest Inventory (INFC2005) data, publicly available at www.inventarioforestale.org. Data from 5707 plots were split into two groups.

A Study of Periodic School Medical Examinations. II. The Annual Increment of New "Defects."
Pediatrics, 1957A longitudinal study was begun 4 years ago in Rochester, New York, to evaluate the need for conducting periodic school medical examinations. This is the second report from this study. The data are based upon annual medical examinations of a 15% sample of

Annual Periodicity of Incremental Growth in the Moss Polytrichum commune
The Bryologist, 1975In the temperate moss species Polytrichum commune Hedw. field studies demonstrated that growth segments which are formed by changing patterns of leaf morphology are repeated annually. Evidence for exceedingly smallscale microhabitat variability in available water was found in the scattered distribution of desiccated stems in space and time, throughout ...

Growth responses to thinning from below in uneven-aged interior Douglas-fir dominated stands.
Canadian Journal of Forest Research, 2023We assessed the impacts of three approaches to thinning from below with varying spatial patterns on several stand and individual tree variables for interior Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii var.

Can Liana Cutting and Thinning Reduce Harvesting Cycles of Natural Forests in the Brazilian Amazon?
Journal of Sustainable ForestryLianas compete with trees for light, nutrients and space, reducing timber yields in tropical forests, however little is known about the effectiveness of liana cutting and thinning to accelerate tree growth.

This study examined the temporal growth, yield and mortality responses of mid-rotation, black spruce plantations to varying intensities of commercial thinning. We established 32 – 1 ha experimental thinning plots that included replicates of four thinning

Commercial thinning is a silvicultural treatment that has been practiced for centuries in Europe. However, in Eastern Canada, its application to naturally regenerated stands is much more recent, and long-term monitoring of this treatment realized in an ...
