Boundary conditions for equilibrating incommensurate periodic patterns

Physical Review E, 2005
Simulation of periodic patterns often suffer from artifacts due to incommensurability of the intrinsic length scale and the system size. We introduce a simple numerical scheme to avoid this problem in finding equilibrium domain morphologies from a Ginzburg-Landau-type free energy.

Molecular dynamics with helical periodic boundary conditions

Journal of Computational Chemistry, 2014
Helical symmetry is often encountered in nature and thus also in molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. In many cases, an approximation based on infinite helical periodicity can save a significant amount of computer time. However, standard simulations with the usual periodic boundary conditions (PBC) are not easily compatible with it.

Loaded Equations with Periodic Boundary Conditions

Differential Equations, 2001
To a polynomial with constant complex coefficients \(A(s)= \sum_{ |\alpha|\leq l}a_\alpha s^\alpha\), \(s^\alpha= s_1^{\alpha_1}\dots s_n^{ \alpha_n}\), \(|\alpha |=\alpha_1 +\cdots+ \alpha_n\), the differential operation \(A(-iD)\) is assigned \((D^\alpha= D_1^{\alpha_1} \dots D_n^{\alpha_n}\), \(D_j=\partial/ \partial x_j\), \(i^2=-1)\).

Electrostatic potentials in periodic boundary conditions

Chemical Physics, 1976
Abstract We discuss the effects of using periodic boundary conditions on the statistical mechanics of particles with electrostatic interactions. For the system of particles with electrostatic interactions plus periodic boundary conditions we develop an effective interaction which may be used with ordinary boundary conditions.

More About Periodic Boundary Conditions

2006
We have already used periodic boundary conditions (PBC) for the static and dynamic simulations described in Chapters 2 and 3. There, PBC were applied along one or two directions of the simulation cell. Application of PBC in all three directions holds an important advantage when one’s goal is to examine the behavior in the bulk: under fully three ...

BOUNDARY CONDITIONS FOR PERIODIC FLOW FIELDS

Chemical Engineering Communications, 1983
The problem of formulation of appropriate boundary conditions for periodic flow fields is investigated. Sufficient conditions are established for the uniqueness of solutions for the creeping flow of Newtonian fluids through periodically constricted tubes.

Klein's Oscillation Theorem for Periodic Boundary Conditions

Canadian Journal of Mathematics, 1971
Multiparameter eigenvalue problems for systems of linear differential equations with homogeneous boundary conditions have been considered by Ince [4] and Richardson [5, 6], and more recently Faierman [3] has considered their completeness and expansion theorems.

Neutron transport with periodic boundary conditions

Transport Theory and Statistical Physics, 1976
Abstract We consider the initial value problem for monoenergetic neutron transport in homogeneous nonmultiplying, nonabsorbing medium with isotropic scattering and periodic boundary conditions. We completely determine the structure of the spectrum of the transport operator both in plane and parallelepipedic geometries.
