Desynchronization by periodic orbits
Physical Review E, 1995Synchronous chaotic behavior is often interrupted by bursts of desynchronized behavior. We investigate the role of unstable periodic orbits in bursting events and show that they serve as sources of local transverse instability within a synchronous chaotic attractor. Analysis of bursts in both model and experimental studies of two coupled R\"ossler-like

Recent results on periodic orbits are presented. Planetary systems can be studied by the model of the general 3-body problem and also some satellite systems and asteroid orbits can be studied by the model of the restricted 3-body problem. Triple stellar systems and planetary systems with two Suns are close to periodic systems.

Unstable periodic orbits and prediction
Physical Review A, 1991A hierarchical approximation of a generic chaotic attractor can be formulated in terms of unstable periodic orbits. We demonstrate the possibility of extracting the most dominant unstable periodic orbits from a measurement of a time-continuous flow. Since unstable periodic orbits not only represent the static properties of the system but also dominate ...

Periodic Orbits near equilibria
Communications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, 2010AbstractLyapunov, Weinstein, and Moser obtained remarkable theorems giving sufficient conditions for the existence of periodic orbits emanating from an equilibrium point of a differential system with a first integral. Using averaging theory, we establish a similar result for a differential system without assuming the existence of a first integral.

Periodic Orbits and Accretion Disks
Celestial Mechanics and Dynamical Astronomy, 1997The motion of a small particle in a binary system where the radiation pressure is not negligible is considered. The photogravitational three-body problem is used as a model of formation of a disc by accretion. The author generalizes the method of \textit{Paczyńsky} [Astrophys. J.

We study the orbits near the Lagrangian points L4 and L5 in a rotating model of a barred galaxy. The families of short period orbits (SPO) and long period orbits (LPO) are joined by an infinity of bridges. We study the evolution of these families as the bar perturbation changes.
