Cislunar Periodic Orbit Analysis for Persistent Space Object Detection Capability
Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 2021This work studies the performance of periodic orbits to observe and conduct space traffic management (STM) in cislunar space, with the aim of finding a preferable trajectory for future missions foc...

Exploring multi-body systems with low-thrust-enabled small satellites opens up a new frontier of scientific opportunities. However, the limited control authority of these spacecraft introduces significant challenges during trajectory and maneuver design.

Multiple bifurcations in the periodic orbit around Eros
, 2016We investigate the multiple bifurcations in periodic orbit families in the potential field of a highly irregular-shaped celestial body. Topological cases of periodic orbits and four kinds of basic bifurcations in periodic orbit families are studied ...

Ground states are generically a periodic orbit
, 2013We prove that for an expanding transformation the maximizing measures of a generic Lipschitz function are supported on a single periodic orbit.

Recent results on periodic orbits are presented. Planetary systems can be studied by the model of the general 3-body problem and also some satellite systems and asteroid orbits can be studied by the model of the restricted 3-body problem. Triple stellar systems and planetary systems with two Suns are close to periodic systems.

Desynchronization by periodic orbits
Physical Review E, 1995Synchronous chaotic behavior is often interrupted by bursts of desynchronized behavior. We investigate the role of unstable periodic orbits in bursting events and show that they serve as sources of local transverse instability within a synchronous chaotic attractor. Analysis of bursts in both model and experimental studies of two coupled R\"ossler-like

Targeting unstable periodic orbits
Physical Review E, 1995Specific targeting of unstable periodic orbits has been achieved by using large-amplitude perturbations in a dynamical system. The method has been demonstrated experimentally on a ${\mathrm{CO}}_{2}$ laser with modulated losses whose unstable periodic orbits are created either at a period-doubling or at a saddle-node bifurcation.

Periodic Orbits near equilibria
Communications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, 2010AbstractLyapunov, Weinstein, and Moser obtained remarkable theorems giving sufficient conditions for the existence of periodic orbits emanating from an equilibrium point of a differential system with a first integral. Using averaging theory, we establish a similar result for a differential system without assuming the existence of a first integral.

STABILIZING HIGHER PERIODIC ORBITS
International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 1994In this paper, we consider stabilization of chaotic dynamical systems onto higher periodic orbits. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for using local linear state feedback control for this purpose. The control is achieved using small, bounded perturbations, and the method proposed is shown to be effective even in the presence of relatively ...
