Reiterated periodic homogenization of integral functionals with convex and nonstandard growth integrands [PDF]
Multiscale periodic homogenization is extended to an Orlicz-Sobolev setting. It is shown by the reiteraded periodic two-scale convergence method that the sequence of minimizers of a class of highly oscillatory minimizations problems involving convex ...

Solution of Positive Periodic Discrete Lyapunov Equations with Applications to the Balancing of Periodic Systems. [PDF]
The discrete-time positive periodic Lyapunov equations have important applications in the balancing and potentially also in the model reduction of discrete-time periodic systems.

Dynamical behavior of one rational fifth-order difference equation
In this paper, we study the qualitative behavior of the rational recursive equation \begin{equation*} x_{n+1}=\frac{x_{n-4}}{\pm1\pm x_{n}x_{n-1}x_{n-2}x_{n-3}x_{n-4}}, \quad n \in \mathbb{N}_{0}:=\{0\}\cup\mathbb N, \end{equation*} where the initial ...

On computing minimal realizations of periodic descriptor systems [PDF]
: We propose computationally efficient and numerically reliable algorithms to compute minimal realizations of periodic descriptor systems. The main computational tool employed for the structural analysis of periodic descriptor systems (i.e., reachability

DNA Motifs and Sequence Periodicities
Genomic DNA sequences contain a wealth of information about the bendability and curvature of the DNA molecule. For example, the well-known 10–11 bp periodicities within genomes can be attributed to supercoiled structures or wrapping around nucleosomes.

Some basic properties of the generalized bi-periodic Fibonacci and Lucas sequences
In this paper, we consider a generalization of Horadam sequence {wn} $\{ w_{n} \} $ which is defined by the recurrence relation wn=χ(n)wn−1+cwn−2 $w_{n}=\chi ( n ) w_{n-1}+cw_{n-2}$, where χ(n)=a $\chi ( n ) =a$ if n is even, χ(n)=b $\chi ( n ) =b$ if n ...

Detection of latent sequence periodicities
A method is proposed for the automatic detection of serial periodicities in a linear sequence. Its application to DNA subtelomeric sequences from two lower eukaryotes, P.falciparum and S.cerevisiae, reveals ordered patterns organised in hierarchical periodicities, not easily recognizable by other methods.
