Dielectric EBG Leaky-Wave Antenna: Design and Experimental Validation
This paper proposes a novel Electromagnetic Band-Gap (EBG) leaky-wave antenna (LWA) operating in the K-band with enhanced directivity at broadside. A rigorous method that combines the analysis of the band diagrams of Bloch waves propagating within two ...

Structural Periodic Vector Autoregressions
While seasonality inherent to raw macroeconomic data is commonly removed by seasonal adjustment techniques before it is used for structural inference, this may distort valuable information in the data. As an alternative method to commonly used structural vector autoregressions (SVARs) for seasonally adjusted data, we propose to model potential ...

INVESTIGATIONS OF MICROSTRIP PERIODIC STRUCTURES [PDF]
Periodic structures are used as microwave filters because of their inherent passband-stopband characteristics. The structure exhibits alternative passbands and stopbands.

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

TEMPERATURE - ABNORMAL DIFFUSIVITY IN TILTED SPATIALLY PERIODIC POTENTIALS
The paper describes diffusion of particles in a tilted spatially periodic potential under the action of external forces in the case of a low friction. It is shown that in underdamped systems, a region of temperature-abnormal diffusivity (TAD) exists, in ...

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

The periodic and dynamic structure of chromatin [PDF]
The organisation of chromatin is non-random and shows a broad diversity across cell types, developmental stages, and cell cycle stages. During G0 and G1 phase of interphase, chromatin displays a bivalent status. The condensed chromatin (heterochromatin) at the nuclear periphery is mostly associated with low levels of gene expression, while the loosened
