Periodic Solutions of Hamiltonian Systems
SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 2000Summary: Two sequences of periodic solutions with large and small norms, respectively, are obtained for Hamiltonian systems of the type \[ -{\mathcal J}\dot{z}=\xi F_z(t,z)+\eta G_z(t,z), \] where \(F\) is superquadratic at \(z=\infty\) and \(G\) is subquadratic at \(z=0\).

The Existence of Periodic Solutions of Perturbed Periodic Systems
SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 1971Conditions are obtained for the existence of a periodic solution to $\dot x = f( {t,x} ) + g( {t,x} )$, where f and g are periodic in t. The technique used is the application of a fixed-point theorem to the iterates of the period map.

Chaos in Periodic Discrete Systems
International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2015This paper focuses on chaos in periodic discrete systems, whose state space may vary with time. Some close relationships between some chaotic dynamical behaviors of a periodic discrete system and its autonomous induced system are given. Based on these relationships, several criteria of chaos are established and some sufficient conditions for no chaos ...

Length of the Period of the Periodic System
Nature, 1951IF each period in the periodic system ends in a rare gas (H,He 1st period, Li—Ne 2nd, etc.), then the number of elements in a period can be found from the ordinal number of the period by the following formula: where n is the number of the period and L is the number of elements in ...

Overtaking in Asynchronous Periodic Systems
Formal Aspects of Computing, 1999Abstract. In this paper, we investigate the structure of the asynchronous behaviour of systems of cyclical, deterministic sequential processes. Specifically, we find conditions which, under certain finiteness assumptions, characterise periodic behaviours and pseudo-periodic behaviours, where a behaviour is periodic if it goes through a ...

Periodic Solutions of Periodic Competitive and Cooperative Systems
SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 1986Many mathematical models in the biological sciences give rise to the system \(x_ i'=F_ i(x,t)\), \(1\leq i\leq n\), \(x=(x_ 1,x_ 2,...,x_ n)\). The system is said to be cooperative or competitive according as \(\partial F_ i/x_ j\geq\) or \(\leq 0(i\neq j)\).

Almost Periodic Solutions for Limit Periodic Systems
SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 1972A system of ordinary differential equations with limit periodic t-dependence has associated with it a sequence of approximating systems with periodic t-dependence. If each of these approximating systems has a periodic solution, sufficient conditions are given on these solutions under which the original system has an almost periodic solution. Additional
