Labial piercing and localized periodontal destruction – partial periodontal regeneration following periodontal debridement and free gingival graft

Dental Traumatology, 2007
Abstract –  Localized periodontal destruction has been reported as a rare complication of intraoral piercings. The purpose of this case report was to illustrate the destructive nature of a lip stud and to describe the successful treatment of this case. The lip stud was removed and supra‐ and subgingival debridement was performed.

Locally Delivered Doxycycline as an Adjunct to Mechanical Debridement at Retreatment of Periodontal Pockets

Journal of Periodontology, 2008
Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate if adjunctive, locally delivered controlled‐release doxycycline might improve the outcome of reinstrumentation of pathologic pockets persisting after initial periodontal therapy. Methods: Subjects with chronic periodontitis underwent initial treatment including full‐mouth ultrasonic debridement and oral ...

Utilization of 810 nm Diode Laser Treatment in Periodontitis as an Alternative to Surgical Debridement Approach

Photochemistry and Photobiology, 2021
AbstractThe efficacy of surgical periodontal may be compromised by inadequate patients’ self‐performed plaque control or lack of supportive periodontal therapy. This clinical case report aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of 810 nm diode laser‐assisted full‐mouth sulcular debridement, as a potential treatment modality in the management of chronic ...

Cultivation of Periodontal Ligament Fibroblasts on Dental Implant Materials and Enzymatically Debrided Teeth [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of Dental Research, 1974
Rhesus monkey periodontal ligament-derived fibroblasts were cultured on glass, Vitallium, poly(methyl methacrylate) and enzymatically debrided teeth. Scanning electron micrographs of these preparations and of the periodontal ligament surrounding normal and replanted teeth were compared.

Periodontal Healing Following Open Debridement Flap Procedures: II. Histologic Observations

Journal of Periodontology, 1982
Four tooth‐containing blocks were obtained from patients being treated for infraosseous lesions of significant depth as part of their periodontal therapy. Treatment consisted of open flap debridement and professional cleansing at least every 4 weeks. Teeth in block were removed for histologic study 4 to 6 months after surgery.

Clinical evaluation of impact of periodontal phenotype on the outcome of open flap debridement in patients with chronic periodontitis: A comparative interventional study

Journal of Periodontology, 2020
AbstractBackgroundSeveral studies have implicated the role of periodontal phenotype (PP) in the outcome of various periodontal interventions. However investigations have not been performed to estimate such impact on the outcome of open flap debridement (OFD) for the management of chronic periodontitis.MethodsA total of 73 individuals with chronic ...

Full mouth periodontal debridement with or without adjunctive metronidazole gel in smoking patients with chronic periodontitis: A pilot study

Journal of Periodontal Research, 2015
Background and ObjectiveThe evidence of effectiveness of metronidazole (Mtz) as an adjunct therapy to periodontal procedure in the treatment of patients with chronic periodontitis is not conclusive. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of Mtz (delivered locally as a gel or systemically as a tablet) as an adjunctive therapy with full mouth ...

Antimicrobial irrigation of periodontal furcation lesions to supplement oral hygiene instruction and root debridement

Journal of Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics, 1990
Abstract The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effects of subgingival irrigations with tetracycline as a supplement to mechanical plaque control and root debridement on clinical conditions of periodontal furcation pockets. 20 subjects with molar teeth having furcation pockets of varying depths and different grades of furcation ...
