Association between periodontitis and cardiometabolic risk: Results from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2008-2014.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
BackgroundPeriodontitis and cardiovascular disease (CVD) share inflammation as common pathogenesis. Evaluating the association between periodontitis and CVD would be helpful to better understand the pathophysiology and various complications of ...

The association of aggressive and chronic periodontitis with systemic manifestations and dental anomalies in a jordanian population: a case control study

open access: yesHead & Face Medicine, 2010
Background The relationship between dental anomalies and periodontitis has not been documented by earlier studies. Although psychological factors have been implicated in the etiopathogenesis of periodontitis, very little information has so far been ...

Immune landscape of periodontitis unveils alterations of infiltrating immunocytes and molecular networks-aggregating into an interactive web-tool for periodontitis related immune analysis and visualization

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine, 2020
Background Immunity reaction plays an essential role in periodontitis progress and we aim to investigate the underlying regulatory network of immune reactions in periodontitis.

Haptics in periodontics

open access: yesJournal of Indian Society of Periodontology, 2014
Throughout history, education has evolved, and new teaching/learning methods have been developed. These methods have helped us come a long way in understanding the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases of the oral cavity. However, there is still no one good way to render a student/clinician the tactile sense for detecting calculus/caries ...

Genetic dysbiosis: the role of microbial insults in chronic inflammatory diseases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Thousands of bacterial phylotypes colonise the human body and the host response to this bacterial challenge greatly influences our state of health or disease. The concept of infectogenomics highlights the importance of host genetic factors in determining

2D copper nanozyme patches facilitate bone regeneration via interfacial modulation of osteoclast‐osteoblast dynamics

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
This study develops a nano‐enzyme patch (ezPatch) targeting bone interfaces. Utilizing ligand‐to‐metal charge transfer (LMCT) catalysis and bone‐targeting ligands on copper nanosheets, ezPatch simultaneously scavenges reactive oxygen species (ROS) and generates oxygen in situ at bone‐losing sites.

The association between non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (NHHR) and prevalence of periodontitis among US adults: a cross-sectional NHANES study

open access: yesScientific Reports
The non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (NHHR) is a recently developed lipid parameter, but there is currently a lack of research exploring its relationship with periodontitis.

Targeting neutrophil extracellular traps in metabolic and immune niche: Nanomaterials for diabetes tissue regeneration

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The effects of NETs on regeneration of various diabetic tissues, and strategies targeting NETs for diabetes tissue regeneration. In the diabetic environment, NETs undergo complex metabolic and immune reprogramming, leading to dynamic changes in antibacterial and proinflammatory functions, and affecting regeneration of multiple systemic tissues.

Atomically precise metal cluster enzymes for pathological tissue regeneration

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of atomically precise metal cluster enzymes (MCEs) for pathological tissue regeneration. Atomically precise MCEs can modulate biological processes, such as attenuation of inflammatory responses, eradication of bacterial pathogens, regulation of angiogenesis, and promotion of cell development.

Detection of Exosomal PD-L1 RNA in Saliva of Patients With Periodontitis

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2019
Periodontitis is the most prevalent inflammatory disease of the periodontium, and is related to oral and systemic health. Exosomes are emerging as non-invasive biomarker for liquid biopsy. We here evaluated the levels of programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1)
