MMP‐8 in Peri‐Implantitis: A Cross‐Sectional Study on Genetic Polymorphisms and Enzymatic Activation

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract illustrates a molecular cascade linking MMP‐8 gene polymorphism (−799C/T), upregulated mRNA expression in peri‐implant crevicular fluid, and elevated active MMP‐8 protein levels. These factors were independently associated with peri‐implantitis and may support molecular‐based diagnostics.

Therapy of symptomatic apical periodontitis

open access: yes, 2009
Aim: The aim of this study was to reveal the therapy of symptomatic apical periodontitis and to show the results. Materials and methods: For that purpose of this study, endodontic therapy was performed on 10 patients, aged between 20 and 55 years, with signs of symptomatic apical periodontitis (e.g.

Inflammatory and Immunological Basis of Periodontal Diseases

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
The periodontal lesion emerges as an evolving immunological battlefield, where host–microbiome interactions, dysregulated immune responses, fragile resolution mechanisms, and inflammophilic dysbiosis converge to shift the balance from homeostasis to unrestrained tissue destruction.

Targeted Alkaline Phosphatase Therapy Enhances Alveolar Bone Healing in X‐Linked Hypophosphatemia in Mice

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
Effects of exogenous tissue‐nonspecific alkaline phosphatase (TNAP) were analyzed in the Hyp mouse model of X‐linked hypophosphatemia (XLH). Maxillary first molars were extracted from wild‐type (WT) and Hyp mice at 6 weeks, and collagen gel ± TNAP was placed in sockets. In one group of Hyp mice, submucosal injections of TNAP or saline were delivered at

Accuracy of Freehand, Static, and Dynamic Computer‐Assisted Implant Placement: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
This meta‐analysis finds that both static and dynamic computer‐assisted implant placement methods offer significantly better transfer accuracy than freehand placement. No clinically relevant accuracy differences were found between static and dynamic approaches.
