Overdentures and the Periodontium

The benefits afforded the patient by the preservation of the periodontium have been explained, and methods have been discussed to evaluate the zone of attached gingiva around overdenture abutments.

Journal of Periodontal Research, 1969The arrangement of the principal fibres of the periodontium of the Vervet monkey was investigated. This study indicates that the cemento‐gingival fibres, radiate out from the cementum of the teeth in much the same way as do the cemento‐alveolar fibres.
