Evaluation of Google's Voice Recognition and Sentence Classification for Health Care Applications [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering Management Journal, 27:3, 152-162, 2015
This study examined the use of voice recognition technology in perioperative services (Periop) to enable Periop staff to record workflow milestones using mobile technology. The use of mobile technology to improve patient flow and quality of care could be facilitated if such voice recognition technology could be made robust.

Ultrasound‐Assisted H2 Transmitter Enables Hydrogen‐Gene Therapy to Prevent Anesthesia/Surgery‐Induced Cognitive Impairment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) remains a challenge with no effective treatments. This study introduces a novel hydrogen‐gene therapy strategy, combining focused ultrasound and siRNA delivery via hydrogen emitters, to repair neuroinflammation in a precise and controlled manner.

Photo‐Biomodulation of the Hippocampus Using Near‐Infrared Laser to Enhance Cognitive Function in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Here a transcranial photo‐biomodulation approach is developed using near‐infrared (NIR) laser on hippocampus of mice, revealing significant improvements in learning and memory ability of mice under normal and disease conditions. The improvement results from the high‐density cell‐induced NIR local energy deposition, neuronal activation, and axonogenesis

Before and After: Machine learning for perioperative patient care [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
For centuries nursing has been known as a job that requires complex manual operations, that cannot be automated or replaced by any machinery. All the devices and techniques have been invented only to support, but never fully replace, a person with knowledge and expert intuition.

Injectable and Sprayable Thermoresponsive Hydrogel with Fouling‐Resistance as an Effective Barrier to Prevent Postoperative Cardiac Adhesions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Postoperative cardiac adhesions lead to numerous difficulties in reoperation procedures. Here, a thermo‐responsive in situ formed hydrogel is shown to can reliably cover the wounds after a convenient spraying or injection and significantly reduce adhesion formation in primary and recurrent cardiac injury adhesion models.

Hydrolyzable Bio‐Based Bisphenols Enabled by the Tishchenko Reaction for Polyurethane Vitrimers with Closed‐Loop Recyclability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study employs the Tishchenko coupling reaction to obtain bio‐based bisphenols containing degradable ester bonds with 100% atom utilization. Based on these bio‐based bisphenols, a fully bio‐based polyurethane Covalent Adaptable Networks are constructed, while simultaneously endowing the material with closed‐loop recyclability, degradability, and ...
