Dental Traumatology, 1996Abstract This study investigated the use of the periotest for measuring tooth mobility of upper permanent incisor teeth in children. A total of 160 children, with equal numbers of boys and girls aged between 9 and 16 years had two periotest readings made on their Four upper incisor teeth. In all 1,280 measurements were collected and analysed.

Periotest for measuring periodontal characteristics-Correlation with periodontal bone loss
Journal of Periodontal Research, 1992The Periotest measures the reaction of the periodontium to a defined percussive force. The percussion is applied to the tooth by an electronically controlled tapping head. Information on structural change is obtained by measurement of both the elastic and viscous characteristics of the periodontium.
